School is great. They focus on learning more than anything so lack social skills

The director is bias and should not be in education

I love the school and because of its smaller size it help s me deal with people better. The lower school and middle school is amazing and the teachers are super supportive.

First and foremost Brandon Academy is a school. What it is not is a daycare, a social experiment, or a private hangout. What they offer is pure learning. Their rules are clearly laid out and any personal issues that arise are almost always from the parents. Dress code is gender neutral meaning all kids pretty much wear the same basic uniforms. The idea is that nothing is distracting from learning. If your kid could be viewed as a distraction, look so where else.In terms of ideology BA doesn't put social influence on learning. They teach in ways which I learned 30 years ago which is to the point without filler. They focus on all children knowing rather than memorization skills. On top of all this, the school is one of the most ethically diverse businesses I have ever seen. This makes BA a true leader and a place worth enrolling your child!!!

In a time when so much is uncertain it is a joy to know that at least me kids love going to school. We've been at this school for three years and our kids love it. Teachers are great, homework is fair and environment is healthy. The school goes through high school so that is a relief. No more searching. One less stress in my life.

The day before my son was to attend his first day of school, I was informed he was being kicked out. Why? Because he wore pigtails and rainbows on his pants during orientation. Because some parents complained about his appearance. Because Brandon Academy discriminates. They pointed their finger at me saying I didn’t disclose the necessary information and pretty much called me dishonest parent. I would never send my son into an environment where he could be treated differently/bullied because he doesn’t follow gender stereotypes. I asked my questions 7 months before school started…before submitting the application to determine if the school would be the right fit for our family. I am not naïve…I know people have their strong opinions regarding gender anything. I know people act a certain way towards others who just don’t fit the “normal” mold. I don’t need anyone showing hate nor acting on their hate around my son or me. Brandon Academy made me believe the school was an inclusive school…there for ALL children…there to model true kindness and acceptance. I had to forward the email from January to show I definitely was not hiding my son's authentic and awesome self…we have nothing to hide. It’s beyond disappointing that we had to deal with this. If the school was just honest about their ignorance from the beginning, then I would have not filled out the application. It’s never okay to discriminate…everyone can have their opinions, but just be kind. It’s not hard. I would not recommend this school to anyone. What a waste of time.

Dissatisfied with discipline practices at the school.

A couple years ago, BA underwent a major shift in philosophy and significantly rebalanced the focuses on academics and social engineering. Our child has been a student at BA since kindergarten and we have appreciated the positive academic and unbiased influence from teachers like Mrs. Brady, Smith, Eldon, McLaren, Moffett; however, with the school's administrative overhaul, and our child's transition to middle school, we are now noticing a huge infusion of socio-political indoctrination. BA certainly now has its own brand of CRT, and the political influence is markedly of the left persuasion. Our family is neither left nor right, we are Constitutional centrists and we love America. Unfortunately, BA has a new and different vision for its students, with a reduced emphasis on academics, and accelerating emphasis on one-sided social engineering. We will not be re-enrolling, and we will forever miss what BA used to be.

As a legacy family, we have loved having our children at BA. Staff may have changed but the “small school in the woods” definitely hasn’t despite it having grown much larger over the years. They have added buildings, earned a National Blue Ribbon title, become an accredited International Baccalaureate High School. They have sports teams and just this spring added 6 man tackle football. They are learning and growing WITH our students.

This school is phenomenal. My child is thriving after years of asking me to send him to private school. I regret not doing this earlier as my child actually enjoys school now. What a novel idea.

We were so lucky to find this school especially due to the lack of private schools that are not church related in the Brandon area. My son has excelled and enjoying school more than he ever has before. We looked at the private schools in Tampa, but for the distance, and not to mention the cost, we could not find a good reason not to come here. Sure glad we did.

This school is incapable of dealing with students with learning differences. They develop an us vs. them mentality with parents that question any existing practices. Bullying is rampant, particularly among lower grades. School has a mentality that every student is an honor roll student. Portable classrooms are falling apart.

What an awesome year for my child. Her teachers were caring and incredible. The new IB curriculum was challenging but she responded! I am so proud of her.

The education is excellent. There are a couple truly extraordinary teachers at BA. The only drawback we noticed is over the past two years or so, the school has begun to be run more like a business and less like a school. Meaning, it's lost that 'family' feeling that made it so special. Would I send my kids there again? Probably. Although, I would be concerned that the owners don't even send their kids there anymore.

This is a for-profit school that is constantly begging for money and supplies to be donated. They also claim that their classes are taught a grade level ahead, they are not, at least not for elementary. Not worth the price.
