I had to pull my child from 6th grade after only 3 weeks. The kids that attend this school are vicious when it comes to bullying and harassing others, my child didn’t feel safe to learn.

In my experience they weren’t following my child’s IEP. Some of the teachers are very mean to students and parents. Not all there are a selected few that are amazing there. I saw on several sites that the teacher student ratio is 19.1 I can attest and quote from my meeting this is incorrect because the least amount of students in one of my kids class has 28 with the most being at least 35. So wrong probably should correct that and tell the truth. Not a good experience so far.

DEFINITELY READ THIS BEFORE ENROLLING YOUR CHILD INTO HAILE MIDDLE SCHOOL - After being identified as gifted in his elementary school with a high IQ, and taught to a contributive student in his nearby elementary school, all was undone in his first year at Haile Middle School. On his first day in computer class he experienced an issue. When he had to ask for help twice, he was told a baby could fix it and to go figure it out himself. He was devastated when he got home. This type of lack of interest from the teachers continued through two other classes. He was bullied constantly with no interest in resolution from the administration. When we picked him up for a dentist appointment, it took 40 minutes to get him to the front door and the office person showed up seeming agitated that she had to retrieve him and wearing a political campaign presidential shirt. He became detatched and unmotivated in the last quarter. We found out near the end of the year that he had missed over 20 assignments. Do you know who informed us of this from the school? NO ONE! Not a teacher, or counselor, or administrator. No one cared. We found it out on our own. This boy, with an extremely high (tested) verbal and non-verbal IQ, had to go to summer school to make up the deficit. For 7th grade, we decided to enroll our son in a different school and he was accepted! We called Haile 3 times to inform them that he would no longer be attending that school and asked for a call back. Not one single call until 3 days after classes started. That call was to tell us our child was truent and that we needed to contact the school. These middle school years are vital and I cannot recommend more strongly that you enroll your son or daughter elsewhere. He is now back to achieving almost all A's and B's with highly engaged teachers and has been welcomed into multiple after school groups.

I absolutely enjoyed and cherished my time at Carlos E Haile middle school. I was blessed to be the first graduating class to attend all three years (6th-8th) and found myself not only trained in academics, but worldly, important social issues which allowed for an easy transition into the high school arena. The faculty and staff were excellent and the principal was an absolute asset

Like having 5 root canals at once while being stabbed on both eyes with forks. It’s awful. The good teachers there don’t deserve this. I would run, fast if I was a new teacher there. Go to another school.

This school is very college driven yet the administration is absolutely horrid. So much so i had to move my child to another school after dealing with two years of the lack on attention when students are being bullied or harassed and more focused on insignificant issues. I felt that they sought out my child and it made them feel very uncomfortable.

Horrible, demoralizing nasty behavior from administration. Constant bullying from staff who will follow you around looking for things to write you up for if you do not fit their ideology

Great school, good teachers, but you need to do your part as a parent. Pay attention to your children, check their grades on FOCUS, attend SAC and PTO to learn more about what is going on. This isn't elementary school, where the teachers are going to hold your hands every step of the way. They are helping your kids be more independent and responsible, and the parents need to be also. There is plenty of info. and opportunity to be involved if you just take it. Also, wonderful electives!

New principal this year and she has set the tone for a responsive and caring faculty. Parents, stay involved - join the PTO and SAC. I have only good things to say about the quality of teachers and the experience my child is having.

in my opinion the teachers are great as long as you dont mess with them. It has great fine arts such as art, dance, chorus, ect. I do wish that it was more fun because all we do is work and 6th graders dont get any field trips, the dances arent that great either. Overall we do have great academic practices and state competitions and most teachers are awesome

First off, I would love to speak to the person whom rated this school an " A" in ANY area! Our child been here since 6th we have had nothing but problems, we have been discriminated against because we lived in Myakka and we have been called " Racists" by one admin staff member solely because of where we live. My child has been suspended so many times because of absences just from suspensions WE were reported to truancy! He has excessive classroom absences. If your child is in any way not cookie cutter or has any degree of problems or difficulties of ANY TYPE, you may want to research ALL POSSIBLE options before choosing this school, they TRULY don't want to be involved. This school is lacking teachers who care and needs more quality teachers and is equally lacking in leadership and EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES. Not so sure who is overseeing this school??? So many issues in so many different areas. The only reason we haven't made school board complaint because I fear retaliatory actions by this school so I will be making formal complaint on my child's last day there. I only gave it 1 star because I had to " rate" to submit my post.

I currently go to Hail and i think it is awesome! There are so many different kinds of classes avalibe and the teachers are excellent! I can't believe that i'm going to have to leave next year :( I'm really going to miss it.

Haile is the best Middle School in Manatee County hands down!! 12 years in a row an A school. That right there speaks for it self!

Currently go to this school. The principal stereotypes (no doubt about it) I was called to the office almost everyday in my 6th grade year for stuff I didn't do and they had no proof of. Some of the teachers are okay I guess. If I had a choice I would not be going here. Glad it's my last year.

I agree with the most recent review. I feel that none of the staff want any parent involvement unless it's just to raise money. Emails take a while to be responded to. They expect the 6th graders to take care of any issues they have on their own at school. Not all kids are assertive enough to speak up to adults. There aren't any conferences to go over report card which would allow the teacher to give their student feedback.. They're all work and no play, there isn't any balance. No school dance, no field trips no creativity. They just now started an art class because they have to many students. They want a bunch of honor students to make them look good I know because my daughter is one of them, they recruit honor kids, but why not show their appreciation by dirtying them some fun every once in a while.

fighting, language (foul, filthy) can be learned here. Bulling happens here and is learned. Is it because just no one cares? I do and I am just sick of it. Seems if F Cats were given on swear words etc. this school would get an A. This school gets an A for the learning curve given for foul language learned. Excellent for learning swear, cuss, filthy words?

I feel the principal and at least one assistant principal stereotype. If they feel your child does not fit into their mold they will do anything to get them removed from the school. Instead of helping a child to improve they concentrate only on negative feedback.

I currently attend Haile and I love it. The principal is really weird and way too strict on the good kids and really easy on the bad kids. I only had a bad experience with one teacher (not mentioning any names). She gave my class a really hard time and didn't help us out. Haile has an exceptional fine arts program and a very clear program on how to advance and be higher in your studies. I love Haile and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

This school would be ok if the teachers acted the way they do at all other schools we've ever sent our kids to. I'm guessing it comes from the top down so Ms. Kerley is not showing a good example of how teachers need to react to parents with concerns. Right now the teachers put any emails from parents on the backburner and only respond if they have time. A lot of discipline issues and extra rules for kids who are good anyway making them feel like they can't be trusted. If I had to choose a school all over I'm not sure I would pick this one.
