Worse school in Barrow district. The new principal is terrible. This school does nothing against bully's. Keep your kids out of here.

My children have attended Auburn ES for several years. The new principal is absolutely terrible and we absolutely miss our old principal. Sad to see this school admin drive out teachers who have been there forever, but glad we're going elsewhere.

Auburn Elementary in Barrow Co. has been such a wonderful experience for our family. My youngest has attended for 3 years now. There is very much a sense of community, I don't feel like my child is just a "number" or a student here. I personally attended Gwinnett Co. Kindergarten- High School, as well as my eldest child, so I had high expectations based on my experience as a student and parent of a student.Auburn Elementary continues to raise the bar. The entire staff is very welcoming and their communication has been beyond anything I've experienced in ANY other school. To completely be honest, I wish my eldest had attended here. The staff to student ratio is exactly what it should be, unlike many other schools. That means every child can have their own personal needs met.Students here do some educational instruction on the computer and have access to do some things from home as well as educational games available with their own account. There are many fun and positive language arts and math programs that are customized to each students needs. They are hands-on with science as well. Advanced testing is offered each year and special education is available to students and families that have this need. Every teacher I've met have been trained exceptionally well and have the skills to children who are on the spectrum. I've seen it first hand in their classroom and I'm speaking as a mother who's eldest child was diagnosed with Aspergers. This school prides themselves on teaching their students to be respectful, take ownership, have a good attitude and be responsible for their actions. My child is receiving the best education on an individual level and in his class. He is also nurtured by the love, kindness, not only by his teacher(s) but the entire staff. From car pool to lunch, from P.E. to the clinic. The children attending aren't lost in the crowd, they are truly cared for. This is the type of school environment every child in the world sould have.

My grandson attended this school for 2- years. The teaching staff went beyond the call of duty to help me keep my grandson from getting behind in all courses. I lived a state away and still the help they gave me was astounding. He exceeded grade level on all phases on his crct test thank to the corporation of the teachers in this school.

Teachers are great!! However, administration is less than poor in performance. Fails to comply with parents written requests in a divorced/court ordered documentation. Unorganized, frequently loses documentation... Children are unsupervised on playground.

My Son attended first and second grades at Auburn elem. During the first grade we held on hoping that second would be so much better, only to find out it was worse. Finally, we were accepted to transfer within the county. I was pleased with the principal and the vice principal but the teachers are a different story. Many times I feel that they were just rude - I offered several times to volunteer and was told it wasn't needed. During his second grade year there wasn't any parent involvement because NOTHING was ever planned. It seemed the teacher made no effort at all. Upon the end of the year we viewed his agenda and the only words written in there were written by me to the teacher and never a response.

My son went to Auburn Elementary for K and 1st. During Kindergarten we had behavior problems, but for the duration of my son's 1st grade we had no experience of behavior problems and he was even placed in the accelerated reading program. I think this is due to having an excellent Teacher, Mrs. Norris who took the time to learn about her students.

My son's behavior has greatly improved since he began attending the early entrance class that meets four days a week for half the day. Mrs. Hopkins is doing a great job, and the school as a whole is well organized.
