I don't know about the past, but we have been involved with our kids here the past 5 years. The American education system is struggling to be sure and some of those issues of apathy and attendance are issues at Hillcrest, but the principals, teachers, and support staff are better than you will find anywhere else.

We were active duty military for many years and have been involved in many different schools over the years in many states and overseas. This is BY FAR the worst school we have encountered. This school is too overcrowded for the administration to have control over the student body. There was an incident where our exchange student had pages and pages of swastikas were shoved in her backpack, I went immediately to the school and saw a Vice Principal with the exchange student and the papers. He listened and agreed that this was unacceptable. NOTHING was done. EVER. This is just one of many incidences that have prompted us to move our 2 children to another district.

This school will make you feel out of place or unimportant at least once a week. Students are not the number one priority at this school, especially for the school administrators. Conflicts are always resolved slowly, and that is only if you can find a school official (counselor, secretary, principal, book keeper) who cares enough to help. The administrators in the office all have bad attitudes, are not understanding of issues, and are resentful when you require their assistance. I as a student do not feel like they do what they can to help me or my classmates when we are in need of it. I have felt like a constant nuisance for the past four years and there has not been a time where I went to the administrators in the office for help that I did not leave feeling belittled and distressed.
