There aren’t enough words for me to describe how truly wonderful this school is. My daughter started there in nursery school and will soon be entering into their 5th grade program. Not only has my child been offered a challenging, progressive academic curriculum, but she has also been offered a safe space for her to continuously grow as a thoughtful, caring, insightful, inclusive, funny, bright and most importantly, a happy child. The Common School has not only supported my daughter, but our entire family as well. I noticed one previous comment around a lacking curriculum and I cannot stress enough the incredible learning my child has been offered at this school. Math classes offering high levels of academics that far surpassed the expectations of my math teacher husband. In depth studies around countries, cultures, wildlife, ocean life, and Greek mythology, just to name a few. This school has beyond surpassed any expectations around learning, both academically as well as socially and emotionally. I have worked closely with not only with this schools parent community, but also with the staff, teachers, volunteers and even the head(s) of school and I can honestly say the level of dedication each one of these community members brings to this school is far beyond what should ever be expected. I am thankful everyday for The Common School and all it has done for my family

We don't recommend this school. The curriculum is lacking, definitely behind any local public school. Also, the staff and teachers don't interfere in kids' bullying each other. The philosophy seems to be "hands off" on every aspect. We were disappointed, especially with the lack of any STEM subjects.

We are very thankful for our time at the Common School. Our child has gained confidence, skills and made many close friends there. The teachers are very interested in the children and trying new things in the classroom. They understand and respect our sweet and complicated child. Several times a year they produce a very thorough report with a long narrative about our child's development. They keep in constant contact with the parents with pictures and little stories about our kids' lives at school. I trust them completely. I am a critical person and can be a "difficult" and demanding parent, and I have nothing bad to say about them. Their education is rigorous and community focused. A true gem of a school. They do often offer financial assistance, so don't be afraid of looking at a private school option. The public school down the street has recently dropped in rating and they cannot be compared to the Common School.

The emphasis on outdoor time and social-emotional learning were huge for us. Each classroom has two teachers, which is incredible. They employ project-based learning that my daughter loves. Additionally, the teachers demonstrate so much kindness and the administration has stellar leadership.

I have had my son going to the Common School since nursery school. He will be graduating 6th grade in a few months. I couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience, especially with the hands on in-depth studies. They might not have grades, (which I agree with as it's less stressful for children), but the teachers make sure the children continue to work on every paper until it is an "A" quality paper. They also start public speaking and journaling in the Nursery, this gives them the confidence to speak to large groups, and writing creative essays is second nature. By the time they are 12, they leave the school with such confidence, manners and respect for others, I know I have given my son a leg up in life.
