bridge street was on average horrible because the teachers mostly don't care about your problems, like once my friend was having a freak out because of one of his disabilitys and when I tried to help they forcefully evacuated me and didn't let me do anything. adding on to that they moved us to the library and after the incident my friend told me that it made him feel even more stressed and left out and that it took him more effort to calm down because of it. Also they don't provide enough special care teachers and move on with their lesson way to fast and that gives the students with ADHD and Dyslexia a harder time focusing on the lesson and gives them a disitvantege on the school work.

I am an alum of Bridge street school and it breaks my heart to hear the turmoil the schools first grade program is currently in. My niece attended kindergarten, and half the first grade school year where it was pure chaos for all children regardless of learning disabilities or not. Not only did a teacher receive a concision, students (including my niece) were attacked by their peers on the regular. the last straw was when my niece was choked. She's flourishing at her new school and excelling in math where she was doing poorly at bridge street.

It really saddens me to write a bad review about this school since it has been a part of my life for a very long time. However, after removing my child from the school due to bullying I need to share this experience. I had multiple meetings with the teachers and the principal who tried to pin my child's struggles on everything but the actual issue, which was clear cut bullying that would not go addressed. Then when my child struggled they blamed them and our family. It got to the point where my child would have extreme anxiety about even going to school. Now that my child is out of the school they are blossoming and have made a 180 degree change.

Excellent principal and kind, knowledgeable teachers. A diverse and well-rounded student body there enriches the school! My son has loved going to school here for two years now. Read-A-Thon and other programs sponsored by the PTO, educational and fun field trips, community-based after school programs, and great learning going on at this gem of an elementary school. I highly recommend it and love watching how much my son is learning and growing there.

: At Bridge Street School, educators take great pride in recognizing the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of all of our students as well as providing a rigorous and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Being the 'downtown' school in Northampton provides a unique opportunity to educate students and collaborate with families who come from various backgrounds. The diverse student population makes for an interesting and exciting school environment which benefits all.

I have been at Bridge for three years so far, with two children going into 1st and 3rd grade. I have served on the school council as well. This school offers such an incredibly warm community, individualized attention (every adult in the building knows my children's names) and committed and caring teachers. My son, who was terrified about going into kindergarten spent every morning singing on his way to school after the first day - he was so happy and felt so supported and loved. So grateful to be part of this amazing public school!
