Tiegerman Woodside is truly a gem in the world of special education in New York City—simply the best school ever! My son has been attending this school for the past five years, and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. Before finding Tiegerman, we tried multiple schools, including a Blue Ribbon school in Westchester, an expensive private school in Connecticut, and highly-rated public schools in Queens. Unfortunately, none of those environments were a good fit for my son. However, from the very first day at Tiegerman, he felt at home. The teachers at Tiegerman Woodside are incredible. They are experts in special education, with an abundance of patience and dedication. The administrators are equally outstanding, consistently responding to my emails within 24 hours, no matter how small the concern. The school employs a specialized approach tailored for children with communication developmental delays, and it has made a world of difference for my son.The classwork and homework he brings home showcase many unique teaching methods, with a strong emphasis on visual learning. The teachers are able to break down complex and abstract concepts into straightforward language, paired with visual cues that my son can easily understand. Over the past five years, we’ve seen remarkable progress. He has gone from echolalia—repeating others' words—to using full sentences to express his needs and thoughts.I'll never forget the day he explained the concept of photosynthesis to me or the moment he asked if a group of people on the Whitestone Bridge were "protesting." The growth he's shown is truly extraordinary, and I can’t thank the educators and administrators at Tiegerman Woodside enough for their tireless efforts, professionalism, and unwavering patience. They have opened doors for children like my son, and for that, I will always be grateful. I wholeheartedly recommend this school to any parent with a child who has similar needs.

A a former student of Woodside elementary school all the way through graduation in 8th grade, the teachers and stall showed the utmost care. A huge amount of money flows into the school, leading to very well supported technical programs. Some of the smartest students I have ever met came out of the school, and now attend colleges like Cambridge and Harvard. Most most of all, I loved my time there and often think back fondly. Small class sizes lead to close knit grades and lifelong friends.

This school is above and beyond. Best education and very much a private school feel (at no cost). The teachers and administration are the top in the area.

Great academic curriculum, great teachers, however, the school system is catered to the Woodside neighborhood. This school LACKS diversity and the ability to lead children through proper levels of kindness and different perspectives. If your child is not "white" (no offense) it will be hard and mentally challenging for them to cope with the environment of being singled out.

My kids went all the way through this school and I would highly recommend it. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5.0. No school is perfect. The teachers and staff do really care about the kids, and do their best to instill a great, competitive education. The school has good assistance for kids that need extra support due to learning disabilities, and many extras like design programs and a wonderful music program that everyone participates in. Roughly half the kids go on to one of the private high schools in the area. There is too much attention paid to the wealthiest of the parents who are squeaky wheels, but I imagine that happens at most affluent schools. My kids were very happy here for the most part, even though we were not in that top % of wealth. The parents are friendly if you are active, but ignore you if you are not.

Such a great, close-knit community where everyone is cherished, guided, and included. Woodside Elm is a fantastic school.

I absolutely love it here! Im am in the seventh grade and my teachers are super duper nice. The resources and books we have are unlimited from a library with lots of books to assigned computers in each classroom!

This school is full of a bunch of yuppie clicquey parents with rich spoiled kids. Teachers are good, admin is bureacratic with a board that only cares about the image of the school (don't get our new school dirty!). I have more than these people but it's annoying when they instill this attitude in their kids. Lacks in diversity so they shuttle the poor minority kids in from e. palo alto. A very sheltered academic environment full of ivy league wannabes.
