Both of my kids and I went to KMES. We absolutely love it! All three of us received an excellent education there. Both my older daughter and I were ahead of grade level when we went on to 6th grade. It is a fantastic close knit community. KMES is in a beautiful setting nestled in the redwoods. We highly recommend it!

We love Kings Mountain Elementary. The smaller school size has been really wonderful. I was originally concerned about two things- the split grade classrooms and the commute. The split classes are actually great. The commute is actually lovely, such a beautiful drive, and the carpool community is strong. It's worth the drive. We love our teachers, paraprofessionals, and office staff. My kids are happy and thriving at KMES.

Please be mindful. Do not allow the small town feel of the environment to dull your senses. The K-1st educator is duplicitous. Her carefully curated public persona masks a self-serving reality.

Our family has two children currently attending Kings Mountain Elementary, with two more waiting in the wings. The classrooms are multi-age so students spend two years with each teacher and a year in the classroom with the grade above and below their own. Class size is small and in addition, each classroom has an aid assisting during core instructional hours. A social emotional learning curriculum, Second Step, is in place across all grades. Students enjoy a rotating variety of enrichment activities including culinary arts, art, and music. Science is taught by a science specialist twice a week. It's a fantastic school for all the academic reasons but what really sets this school apart is the community. The small school size means that you really get to know not only the other families in your child's grade, but other grades as well. This is true for the students as well. When I send my children up to school each day I know that they will be getting a good education, that they will be among friends, and that they will be well looked after, both by the amazing teachers and staff or other parents. We are very happy with this school and we aren't letting a little commute get in the way! I drive up from the coast every afternoon to do pick up but our carpool family drops our kids off each morning. The drive is easy to get used to and carpools are not difficult to arrange. It's a beautiful drive too, to a happy school nestled among the Redwoods.

We have chosen to drive up from "town" in order for our children to experience this amazing school. We appreciate the small community feel of the school. All the staff know all of the students, not just by name but what they are interested in and what their needs are. I feel like my kids get the emotional support they need surrounded by a staff and community who understand them. In the classroom they are engaged and passionate about learning. They both come home excited to share academic experiences they have had that day. As parents we have felt embraced by the "mountain community" and enjoy participating in their community events.

My children have thrived at KMES! I knew this was the school for us when we toured and the students were friendly, engaged and responsible, and the teachers were approachable. My children have discovered new interests in their science, cooking, art, and music classes and I've watched their whole character develop. The teachers are top notch and have worked with our family to ensure our youngest child's learning challenges are supported.

King's Mountain is a great small K-5 public school off of Skyline Blvd. in the Redwoods above Half Moon Bay. The wooded site reminds me of a Boy Scout camp. With about 80 students, every teacher knows all the students and vice versa. The Parents Association is very active and hires aides to assist in the classroom as well as music and science. Many of the coastsiders carpool so don't be too concerned with the distance. Everyone is very supportive and approachable.
