This is a great school with great staff, and an invested and caring principal. It provides a structured environment for learning as well as provides outlets for creativity. We couldn’t be happier with this school for our son. His education and growth have blossomed. We unfortunately went to another school in the area preciously. We are so incredibly happy we switched. What a difference.

Very good. This school is a bit different in terms of demographics versus the other elementaries in town. Out-of-district kids from East Palo Alto can opt to enroll here, many of whom come from much less-privileged backgrounds. The diversity that helps bring is invaluable and makes for a better community than just vanilla affluent kids.

Both our kids are happy with Heather both academically and emotionally.

Perhaps Heather was once a great school with low classroom numbers, but this scenario is part of the past. The class size is more like 23-25 and in some cases two class rooms put together. The teachers are very overwhelmed and do not have time to listen as they seem overworked and underpaid. The children who succeed here attend school all day, and then have their parents/tutors teach them the real material at night. When reading the reviews look at only the reviews after 2013 as now the school is impacted. Also notice the scores of the 2nd grade class in 2013.

Heather is a fantastic school, with a wonderful and supportive learning environment. We have had three children attend Heather over the years, and it has been a positive experience throughout. Parent involvement is welcomed by teachers and staff.

The principal makes a school and the current one that has been at Heather for over 10 years is excellent. She is a no-nonsense, no BS administrator who is thorough and knows her job well. The teachers are excellent and very caring, and the community is very supportive. Parents volunteer when they can, and are very involved. That is a sign of a great school when the community is fully engaged in their kids' education.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Heather. We moved here last year and didn't know a single family. They didn't an incredible job introducing new families and giving us opportunities to mingle. My boys thrived and loved their teachers.

We moved to San Carlos in 2008 and lived there till end of summer 2011. We miss the heather school as a whole family. My Son was there from K1 to Grade 2. What a great school, what a great community. We love everything about it, my son was crying for a week since we moved out of the country in 2011, of course only because he was missing his school and his friends. Such a welcoming school and community. We miss you Heather and San Carlos. Also we wanna give kudos to San Carlos Education Foundation for their relentless efforts.
