This High School is excellent in that the teaching staff is top notch. There are so many courses to choose from and the individual departments and teacher encourage student to challenge themselves, stretch themselves and not limit them to mid-level course offerings. There seems to be a lot of communication between families, teachers and administration. The communication is open and the atmosphere is positive. Our kids all got great educations and had their choice of top tier colleges. The principal is very open to talking with parents and makes sure that the faculty adopts a similar open policy. I feel like they are concerned with your child and work with the student to achieve success.

If your child is self motivated and has no learning challenges, your child could do very well here. My experience has been a mixed bag--some really good teachers and administrators, and some who seem friendly enough but really have no idea how to identify or help a student when things start going wrong. The teachers and administrators really don't want to talk to the parents. They want the kids to self advocate. Unfortunately, kids don't always know what they need to ask for. Because of this attitude, it can take a long time to find out if things are not going well for a child a school, and even longer to fix the problem (if that is even possible).

(One of the previous reviewers should know better than to write "alot." The correct way is "a lot.") Many thanks to the wonderful English teachers at WHS....and all the others who cared so much about each student. I cannot wait for the new school facilities to open in February. Two of our four children will be there (the other two already graduated.)
