our family had a great personal experience with this school

Both of my boys had great experiences at Newman. I find it sad that a few complainers would lower the ranking of such a great school

I've had three children attend Newman, my oldest started at the preschool. It's a wonderful caring environment full of experienced teachers who love their jobs.

The Newman School is a large school that focuses on the social and emotional well being of children and celebrates its diversity as a community. I don't believe the previous comments truly reflect the transformation that this school has undergone. The educators at Newman truly care about students and their growth. The parents are involved and contribute their time and resources in many ways.

I'm confused by the review from another parent back in August -- she talks about how bad communication is but then talks about how much she likes her child's teacher, the staff, and even the principal! I'm not sure what people would expect? Newman is a great school -- yes, it's big and houses many program, but for our kids that has meant a wide variety of activities and opportunities that you don't always get elsewhere. This year they extended the school day, added more PE, and even added Spanish. All-in-all we've had a great experience and will always look back on it fondly.

I think the ratings system should reflect comments made in a two year rolling system. Five stars from a 2007 review is totally irrelevant in 2014. So..if we even use a one year time period, Newman's average falls to 3 stars--where, in my opinion, it belongs.

We have had bad communication about anything and everything since starting at this school. This school is massive, in fact someone informed me it is the largest elementry in the state (unsure if this is true, but I wouldn't be suprised!) and is still over crowded. Lost messages between office and classroom, inflicting information given at parent teacher meetings. That being said, I gave it three stars as my son liked his teacher, is happy to go in every day, and all the staff seems nice when I have had face to face interaction. Also, the little interact we had from the principal seemed very nice.
