We agree with the most recent review. Waunakee may have a lot to be proud of, yet the pride becomes too much. In fact, most of the activities are geared toward achieving scores to attract more development. Waunakee has lost sight of what matters and is over the top arrogant. Even the school board seems to be too proud of new buildings and developments. How will these things impact learning for the better? This is a question that really needs to be answered. Several non-teaching staff are not equipped to be working with kids. Also, only minimal, if any, parent volunteers in the class. (I wonder why) Not all number 10 or high scoring schools are good or teach with the philosophy that learning is a process to be valued and immersed in rather than an outcome (scores). Such a let down.

My 2 kids attended and we have relocated many times so can compare it to other schools. We were disappointed in the quality of teachers and education in Wisconsin in general, definitely behind the times especially compared to other states. With that said Waunakee schools are below average in my open. This school needs better teachers, a renovation and someone telling them to stop test to the state / federal tests only to score well and get more $$. This is not helping children learn!

Love this school! Love how they empower the students, expect positive behaviors, and are proactive about respectful behaviors. I have been so pleased to have both my boys attend. The principal is top notch and the teachers are amazing. Congrats on being a great place to learn!

We had two children that attended Waunakee Intermediate. It is a top notch school with caring, knowledgable teachers and a supportive, energetic & experienced principal. The principal and staff emphasize student academic growth and positive behavior. Any family moving to the Madison area with a student entering gr. 5-6 should seriously consider Waunakee Intermediate.

We moved to Waunakee from Illinois at the start of the 2010 school year. Now that we are closing to the end of the year, I can say it was a very positive experience. The principal Chris Hetzel, is amazing, she does know every kids name. She made an extra effort to ensure a smooth transition for my son. It was a great year, too bad we only had one year at this school.

As a new family to Waunakee in 2010, we were immediately welcomed by Principal Chris Hetzel and the teaching staff of Waunakee Intermediate. Relocating to a new area is stressful, however, Mrs. Kind, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Hetzel, and the entire staff made it a seamless and enjoyable integration for our family. At Waunakee Intermediate, your child is not a number. Each child is treated with the utmost respect and his/her personal traits highlighted. It was a wonderful and very rewarding experience for us and will be for you as well!
