The Principal and Teacher are using Covid as a excuse to send special needs student home. There is too much bias and cliques (between some parents and teachers). The Principle does not address teacher issues, or bother to return calls when there are complaints about how my child is being treated at this school.

My daughter has thrived at RCES. The staff is nothing short of excellent. She comes home happy and that is all that matters.

RCES is a fantastic elementary school. My boys attended for 3rd grade, left in 4th to attend a charter school, and came back for the end 5th grade. The best decision we made was to send them back to RCES. It was like they never left. They were greeted with open arms and they were so happy to be remembered by so many friends, teachers, and staff! I have witnessed nothing but caring teachers and staff who only want the best for their students. RCES also utilizes technology in and out of the classroom, which my kids did not get at charter. I have had children in public, private, and charter, and our public school experience has far outweighed all of them. A note to all parents - you have to do your own research and be your child’s advocate. Talk to people who have attended your school, visit the school, talk to the administration, volunteer at the school. Don’t just look at a school grade. There is so much more to a school and it can be skewed by so many factors. We will be sad when our boys aren’t Bulldogs anymore, but are so thankful that they have had such an amazing elementary school experience.

We have been incredibly blessed that both our children attend RCE for their second year in a row. The Leadership stemming from Dr. Sexton is unmeasurable. She is a true leader in every extend of the word. The teachers are very involved and enthusiastic to provide a safe and engaging learning environment. I dont know why some parents have had bad experiences, but I will also add, my kids went to a "so-called" A school prior to this one, and they were nothing compared to RCE. We could not be happier! Don't believe the negatives until you see the positives for yourself.

Awful. I’ve gone into this school and it seems more of a mental institution than learning environment. Parents aren’t called when a child has a problem during the day, and new teachers are stuck with so many behavioral children that it makes it difficult for children without behaviors to learn. My child had 2 boys in his class this year that were so disruptive and aggressive (throwing chairs, hitting, outbursts, elopement of class) that about 1/3 of his class was being tutored at home. There are always children screaming in the sick room in the office that office staff just ignore, and the principal is too afraid to offend anyone to do anything about it. We, like most families, spent one year here and got out.

My daughter was required to go to this school after we moved to Wake Forest. I was leery to send her due to the ratings the school received from numerous parents. After asking some of my neighbors who had children at the school I felt a little bit better. Let's just say it was short lived. The experience we have had at this school has been a complete nightmare. Numerous students that attend Richland should actually not be allowed to attend (this is coming from individuals who have first hand experience with the children) due to behavioral issues or other numerous problems. One student called the teacher an expletive and nothing was done. The student was allowed to stay in the class with no punishment. The experience we have had has been a bit worse. A young man in my child's class tried sticking his hand up her shorts at the beginning of the year (her shorts were longer than fingertip length) and no action was taken and no follow up from the principal. In addition to that another student made racially insensitive remarks to my child and nothing was done about that either and again, no follow up. Then come to find out there were remarks made about a boy taking my child to the bathroom! Having to explain sexual harassment and women being objectified is not the type of conversation I want to have with my child after school. The principal seems to be uninterested in removing or punishing the students that are a constant problem in the school and instead chooses to cover and make the school seem better when in all actuality there needs to be a complete overhaul with the administration. Needless to say I am pulling my child out of the school ASAP and we will not be attending the school next year. In my opinion I would highly suggest any parents contemplating this school to explore other options such as the local private schools, magnet and others if that is an option. I wouldn't recommend this school to any parent thinking of enrolling their child as they will be lost in the shuffle and not receive the education you are made to believe they will at the orientation.

Very poor. We will not be returning to this school next year and are very happy to be leaving.

I would rate it a 10! My experience has been incredible. These scores and rating are old and unjust. This school has proven to our family that it is a place for an amazing elementary education. The support of staff for my child has exceeded our expectations. My child is HAPPY & is doing phenomenally, academically and socially. She's learning so much on a weekly basis. She's growing and changing every year in a positive and productive way. I Couldn't be happier with our experience.

I would have to disagree with what one of the comments said about the school not being inclusive of students with special needs. I have had a GREAT experience with the way in which Richland Creek goes out of their way to support and love my autistic child! The staff and administration goes above and beyond the call of duty. Be careful of negative comments and visit the school for yourself and your children, it a wonderful place to grow and learn!

New School - lots of growing pains, not inclusive of special needs. I request a new assignment and I am happy to have only wasted one year here.

My child entered this school when we moved here from up North. I am so grateful that he was a fifth grader because I know I couldn't have made it through another year in this school. His teacher was inexperienced, there is little support from the staff except to cover any lack and errors on their part. I received supposedly reviewed class work back with spelling errors on it (on the teacher's side). I ended up having to hire a private tutor for my child. This is a new school so the small class sizes are impressive, however, my advice is to look elsewhere.
