Absolutely best experience ever with a school. The staff and administration are second to none and my children were loved, cared for, and educated! Would do whatever it takes to keep my kids in this school if we had to move.

We love the school and the teachers. The music program is incredible too. We really feel that the school goes the extra mile. In the mornings, before school starts, they open the computer labs so the kids can practice math every morning for 15 minutes. Also, I'm really impressed by the projects that the kids work on. My son is in the 5th grade and we will be really sad to leave.

Upper Nyack has proven to be an elementary school dedicated to the success of their students. I have encountered many teachers who have gone above and beyond to provide a wonderful learning atmosphere for the children. In these days of Common Core, it can be difficult to keep students on task AND excited about learning, and many of the UNES teachers have been able to do so. I have found that this is a very nurturing atmosphere and most teachers are top notch here.

I have 2 children currently in Upper Nyack Elementary school. So in 5 years I have Only had one mediocre teacher, the rest were outstanding. The school has adopted the Core curriculum and implemented a new a new math program called Investigations which Is excellent. There is a fabulous after school adventure program 3 times a year Which exposes the students to everything from fencing to cooking to tennis to Windchime making. The school does however tend to be too reliant on ditto sheets for homework. The teachers try to incorporate movement and outside time into The day whenever possible.

This school is mediocre and the principal, Dr. Anne Roberts, is a nigntmare. For example, one of the best teachers eventually was forced into retirement after her 2nd grade science curriculum was abandoned in order to spend time prepping for the 3rd grade ELA tests. It's all about getting scores up and not about what the children are really learning.
