Great school with a Principal and teachers that care. Really great educational environment.

My child has gone through three years at the middle school and has had a great experience. Most of the teachers we've dealt with have been great, and have always been interested in doing whatever it takes to help my child succeed.

Principal Johnson has been an absolute game changer for this school. My daughter loves going to school everyday because she believes that her principal, teachers and staff care about her AND her success.

Principal Johnson has been an amazing change to the Middle School. While the academic programs were always top notch, the leadership was definitely lacking. That has changed dramatically now. Middle School is not an easy time in the development cycle--but they are handling all aspects with grace. The team teaching models that started a couple years ago were a FANTASTIC idea.

My son is 1/2 way through his 6th grade year at Nyack Middle School. He is part of a caring team of teachers who are teaching him about responsibility, deadlines, organization, and are making class engaging and interesting. So far he is growing and loving middle school even more than Upper Nyack Elementary School.

LOVED this school. My daughter really did well here. I don't understNd how it has received 1 star. You get out what you put into it, is what I say. And that's anything you do. There are great teachers here. They really care what's going on. If there is bullying, which there is in every school, even the best ones. It will be addressed immediately, as long as you tell them. They can't fix it if they don't know. Love this district

Nyack Middle School tracks students of color starting in the 6th Grade. Poor leadership. Poor communication to parents. Principal sends important information about advanced classes, standardized tests, Regents exams, home through students. Uses students as carrier pigeons for important information. Many students in this district are Haitian and Latino and they are left out completely from academic opportunities because the important information is sent home by students written in English. Nyack Middle School could be more inclusive and less discriminatory in their practices.

Poor administration. Principal and assistant principal send bad messages to the students about their work ethics. They condone lazy behavior and don't reinforce the message that hard work helps to make success.

It's a terrible school, it might seem nice and such but students get bullied some even get threatened. The dean of the school is an unfair person, she has favoritism on a certain group of children and treats all the other students unfairly. The teachers are rude and don't take a lot of time to help the children with their work. To me this is just an overall bad school and I wouldn't want to put my children in it.

My son is in his final year at Nyack Middle School and he has had a fantastic experience. Bullying is dealt with immediately and effectively, the atmosphere is one of collaboration, warmth, inclusiveness, encouragement and safety. Teachers overall are very caring and dedicated, academics range from remedial to honors: all students' academic needs are met. The school is well organized, many kudos to the wonderful principal, assistant principal, and all staff. As a veteran educator myself, I can't say enough about the wonderful job the administration and faculty of NMS does with what is probably the most challenging of all the developmental stages!
