My autistic child was in this school for two years. She was battling depression and anxiety during the pandemic, plus suffering the loss of family members and our dog. I placed her in this therapeutic school after visiting once and seeing how nice the school grounds are and hearing about their focus on art and the emotional well-being of your child. The school itself is not impressive looking or full of great equipment but coming from a bad neighborhood, this school looked like a dream to us. How soon it turned into a nightmare. My child is intelligent, but was doing work that was 2-3 years below her grade level. Her teachers wouldn't respect her pronouns. There was incident after incident and yet, each time I would bring it to the administration, they said my child misunderstood or was confused. The teachers are not trained to manage the needs of children on the spectrum or with other disabilities. They do not have special education teachers in every class. They are short of staff. There is almost NO FAMILY ENGAGEMENT. I know Covid exists but please put on holiday shows, have Picture Day like regular schools, send home progress reports regularly, or, gee I don't know, HAVE VIDEO PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES, and do them several times a year. There is only one good teacher who communicates with me about my child. There was also a school guidance counselor but she left almost as soon as she was hired. Look at the ratings the staff has given St. Dominic's Family Services- if it's a terrible place to work, then it's a terrible place to put your child. YOUR CHILD WILL BE FORGOTTEN HERE AND NOT PROGRESS ACADEMICALLY OR SOCIALLY. Please do not send them here.

My child was driven away school had gun and taser pulled out on his he 8 year old door's are locked outside trying to come in but door's open going out they put my child life in danger and safety and all employees lie parents please investigate your children can be at danger cruel members terrorize our children's this operation like district 75 school.
