The Autism program lacks a lot and the administration needs to be revamped.

My daughter is in Kindergarten, in Ms. Stewart's class. I really like her. She is hands on and has called home about a non-important issue which is great because all issues matter. The fact that my child is in kindergarten does not mean she is no longer a child who needs individual attention and some patience and a call to home when they forget something, have an accident, having a bad day, etc. Class Dojo is used a lot by all the teachers and videos and pictures are posted which gives parents/guardians/family a snapshot of what they are doing in school. I am involved in PTO and try to attend most events, like Trunk or Treat, etc. I liked that they had a Back to School dance. I didn't think they did that in Elementary school. All the kids loved it and lots of parents danced too. It was really fun. I have also been a chaperone on a field trip. I think it is very important to be involved in school. You cant complain about what you don't know but you also can't praise them if you are not there to see the great things they are doing. My daughter also goes to Aftercare at the school. It closes at 6pm. I don't know if the workers are employed by PGCPS but they are all friendly and know my child by name. She doesn't like when I pick her up early so that's a good sign that she likes the activities they do. I would love if they had a better playground area with more equipment and if they had a separate gymnasium. But I was told that a Classroom and "Multipurpose"room is indeed used for that. If parents attend a PTO mtg, their field gets a Out of Uniform pass, they do Spirit week, etc. Overall I am pleased and trust me I am the picky, concerned parent that looks at everything, down to how the teachers dress and speak.

The staff from the days of the bad reviews are gone. Rosaryville has become one of the best schools for children with Autism in the county. The have a lot of great programs and great staff. Take a tour of the school before taking the low rating too seriously.

I would rate this school as excellent. My son has attended this school through Pre-K and I have consistently found this school to be a safe, fun and stimulating learning environment. Most recently I have found that the teachers are effectively trained and working to ensure that all students have a positive learning experience and reach their academic potential.

My son attended this school in kindergarten. we moved to florida and returned two years ago. he has attended 4th and 5th grade and is going into 6th grade. If I could move I would. this is a terrible school. My son gets in trouble for talking in the lunchroom. where else should he talk... the classroom!. The teachers do not try and work with him they just take the easy road and put him in detention for things like talking. Like one parent said, we are raising children, not soldiers. There is no understanding. The new Assistant Principal is a bully herself. She needs to go. The teachers are very negative and do not provide positive guidance to our children. My son always came home feeling defeated.

My daughter attended kindergarten at this school. I am glad I moved and have decided to enroll her in a different elementary school. Ms Peterson was a decent teacher but her attitude towards you solely depends on her personal view on you. She was not very understanding of my situation of myself or my daughter. My daughter is a happy individual, she just likes to talk and make friends. We are building individuals, not soldiers. Kids will be kids and there is no understanding with this school. It's really sad when your child asks you why she got in trouble in school, and when i ask the teacher it's simply "She was caught talking". During the kindergarten promotion, Ms Peterson made a speech and when my daughter's name was called, she said "She def made me work hard". My family was appauld, seeing as how we are supposed to praise children in public. Heck even the special ed class had no "jokes" or negative things said from the teacher. Events and fundraiser were only send home with students a day before. I didn't arrive home from work until 6pm. It's hard trying to scrounge up things for a project in such short notice. I'm very disappointed in this school.
