My experience as been pleasant. I do participate in the PTA and volunteer at the school as much as I can. I truly love the Grand Parents programs. Principal Gastons and her team are doing an amazing job

There are fist fights all the time. The students are not reprimanded at all. The principal is nice, but refuses to believe any negative complaints about the staff. She obviously cares more about covering things up instead of fixing issues. The grounds are awful and the school is dirty.

I went into this school to check it out since the school on post is a lottery. First of all, it reminded me of a jail. The outside of the school looks awful and the playground looks like a tetanus shot is required before recess. The school smelled bad, was dimley lit. Didn't feel or look like a happy, or safe enviorment. When I went in to ask about registration I was ignored for about 10 minutes. Then I was asked "what choo want?" By a women with really long nails, amd very few teeth. I asked about registration. She took one look at me and my son, and walked away. She was talking to someone down the hall and I heard her refer to my son as "white boy with glasses". I walked out of there. We homeschool now.

My children have attended F.T. Evans for four years. One has special needs and the other is in the school's Talented And Gifted program - they are on both sides of the spectrum. I only have GOOD THINGS to say about the staff, the principal and their care for my children. The current principal welcomes each child by name every morning. I volunteer several hours a year at the school helping with various programs so I have seen first hand how good & consistently the teachers and students handle themselves. The teachers are professional and the students know how to handle themselves and what is expected of them. The PTA is very active as are the hundreds of parents and volunteers from the base. The Andrew's base school liason is VERY active in the school and works great with school leadership and staff. My children had the opportunity to attend the Andrews charter school on base and we turned it down because of how great the F.T. Evans staff is. MOST of the below reviews are OUTDATED. If you're from a DoDDs school, keep in mind PG County doens't have that kind of budget, but that caliber of people. Every school has bullies, no matter what tutition you are paying..

Just another military mommy who's son unfortunately didn't make it to the charter school. NO child deserve this! This is a bad, bad school. It is extremely sad to see my son struggling here, not only academically but being a victim of bad bullying! If you can, don't enroll you son/daughter in this school!

It is incredibly sad to me that Andrews AFB is zoned for this school. Our military kids do not deserve this, and in fact no civilian children living in Clinton deserve this either. Just a horrible, horrible school. The principal is one of the meanest unprofessional people I have ever met. Be aware that the charter school on Andrews is done by lottery, so if you don't get in then this is your school. Many homeschool as well.

This school is horrible!. My kids went here from 2011-mid 2013. I only kept my oldest there because his younger brother was starting pre-k and the Charter school on Andrews AFB didn't have pre-k. The office staff is rude or ignorant. I tried to get an appt with the principal multiple times and they'll just say she's busy or she won't call you back if you leave a message on her voicemail. I will say that their Special Ed program was pretty decent though. Ms. Stephanie would see my son at least every other day and she communicated well with me as a parent. I was very happy with that. Also Mrs. Brown who was a kindergarten teacher for my older son was a very good teacher but in a bad school.

I actually go to this school right now and I have to admit, it has alot of flaws. For example, instead of a cafeteria, we have a multipurpose room where a lot of our programs happen. But then again I have encountered "mean teachers" and things similar but don't blame the school unless the the teacher did something evil like cuss at the kid or something but other than that, I would do the same thing too because in my class, there is several of kids who think their smarter than the teacher and talk back and cuss behind the teacher back. That makes me angry because I know that teachers need to be professional but these kids get the parents called over and over and over again until it becomes a daily basis. My point is why penalize the school when the kids are the one's ruining the school? Remember whoever is reading this, this is my opinion! If you think opposite, fine by me just remember everyone have a right to think their own thoughts.

Disgusting!!! I attepted to enroll my children at this school after being stationed at Joint Base Andrews. Upon entrance of the office, I was "greeted" by a woman missing several teeth, that said-'what you need?'. After informing me that I would have to wait about 10 minutes until she could help me, I sat in a chair in the hall outside of the office. As I was waiting, I could hear the gym teacher screaming at a class of children that looked to be about 3rd graders. There was not an attempt to instruct, just screaming. Then she proceded to mock a child for crying. A couple minutes later, she walked past me, a young girl following her. As she was walking the girl to, what I assumed to be the principal's office, she said to the child "yeah, little bastard, now you want to cry." No, I wanted to cry! Once in the office, the principal/vice-principal did not even ask the child what happened. She too, proceded to scream at the little girl about 'how sick of' her she was. It was at that point I left the school, with out registering my children! I would stay as far away from this school as possible! I will homeschool my children until I can find an alterative.

HORRIBLE!!!! My kids ended up in the ER more than once & school did nothing, but blame or ignore.

If you have order to Andrews AFB you really need to look at your options for other schools. Lots of people homeschool, there is a charter school on base, and there are some better districts if you choose to live off base. This is not a good school. They have major budget issues, the staff is rude, and the kids are the ones who are paying the price. If you have a choice I would look elsewhere.

I feel the teachers try to do their best with the limited resources made available in this school. The principal is NEVER available and the very few times she has been is very rude and unprofessional. They do very little to help children that are a little behind, for example the reading recovery program lasts half of the year and ends regardless of the childs progress or lack of. And twice so far this year my son has been sent home on the wrong bus, he should go to an after school program and was put on the bus to come to our house! Thank god for my neighbors!!

My daughters teacher is very slow to respond to my requests. The office staff rarely want to take responsibility for anything and when you call for something they always juggle you around to someone else. Discipline is almost non-existent, the teachers really couldn't care less! My daughter does very well academically no thanks to the teachers, she is just a great student by herself.
