Disappointing for both my standard-track student and my "gifted and talented" student

The culture of cruelty that is allowed to persist at ACMS and the lack of a cohesive effort to deliberately create a constructive culture result in several ACMS graduates that continue to degrade the caliber of character in the underclasses at THS. I must question the three below reviews that came in at the same time and contain similar wording. Hmmm...

Our daughter has thrived in the nurturing environment of Alder Creek Middle School. Her excitement about learning during these formative years is a testament to how awesome the environment of the school is.

My son has thrived at this school. The administration, teachers and programs are all extraordinary and progressive. Students are held to a strict behavioral guideline and there is a healthy environment at the school

My child has been at Acms for 2 years now and has had nothing but a positive experience, the teachers provide a good learning environment and always help the kids do they're best. The teachers are always there to support the students and the school has Safe School Ambassadors/ peer helpers that the kids can go to for advice or support. Whether the student is advanced or struggling ACMS seems like they are there to meet everyone's needs. We have had nothing but a great experience at ACMS and and looking forward to another child starting soon!

ACMS has a significant bullying program that they refuse to address. Students are allowed to harass others and it has rampant foul language.

I'm not impressed. We are new to the district, and coming from a "10" school, I knew it wasn't going to be perfect, but I keep hearing about the teachers being "mean" to the kids! I've heard of two instances (first-hand) where teachers have made students CRY. This is completely unacceptable! There is no excuse for "mean" teachers. One in particular, known as "the absent minded professor", loses assignments which have been turned in and blames the students. He gives the student either 0 or 1/2 credit for HIS error! My child is a responsible "A" student, but because of this teacher, my child is getting discouraged and starting to "hate" school! That is NOT RIGHT! There is a new principal, Ms. Larson, who is doing a great job, but she has a big mess to clean up after the previous principal (from what I understand). I can only hope that she can straighten the teachers out before more kids get discouraged and lose their love of learning because their teachers don't care about TEACHING. It's too bad. Truckee is an amazing town and there must be a slew of excellent teachers just itching to get into the district! Why do we have to settle for sub-par??

Alder creek school is one of the best schools I've had experience with and trust me I've had many experience due to having 4 kids.. The teachers here really know how to individualize their teaching to meet different kids needs and challenges.. Every teacher I ran into taught with a passion and with love

This school is horrible. Teachers are hard too work with and unreliable. Kids could get away with murder in this school. Most kids are not parented very well and treat others with no respect. I learn close to nothing thanks to the loud class room and noisy kids. The teachers don't know how to discipline these kids. It's a horrible school and I hope no one else had to go through such a nightmare

This school is a social nightmare run by an extremely liberal staff. They will hug your children and give your child a false sense of security while behind the scenes the administration will gather as much information about your personal life and make it their own crusade to fix whatever does not comply with their ideology.
