I recently had the opportunity to experience West High School, and I am truly impressed by its commitment to providing an exceptional education. From the moment I stepped onto the campus, I was struck by the welcoming environment fostered by staff and students. The curriculum is diverse and well-structured, offering a wide range of subjects that cater to various interests and future career paths. The teachers are knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about helping students succeed, creating a supportive atmosphere for learning. One standout aspect is the robust extracurricular programs, especially in the arts and athletics, which greatly enrich the student's school experience. While there are some areas for improvement, such as the need for updated facilities, these do not significantly detract from the overall positive experience. Overall, I highly recommend West High School for parents and students seeking a nurturing and academically rigorous environment."

There are only a handful of good teachers at this school. The majority are either good people with terrible teaching abilities or teachers with a pretty okay teaching curriculum but absolutely horrendous personalities, with another portion of the staff just being terrible teachers and people. Multiple times students have informed the office about teachers with racist behavior or teachers with unsafe characteristics in the classroom, and have been completely ignored. Our campus staff has people who work hard to help maintain a safe and healthy school for students to attend. Still, it is oftentimes overshadowed by a disorganized administration and an oppressive learning environment. If there's something I would like West to do in the future, it's to actually take the time to listen to your student body and not encourage us to "talk to you" and then completely ignore our emails, deny our requests for meetings, and dismiss our ideas and then replace them with your own WITHOUT our input. Thank you to the staff and teachers that actually made being a student at West worth it, and I hope to never see the rest again in the future.

They do a good job preparing the student for college. The teachers are very caring and responsive.Even though my child came from a smaller middle school, he had no problem transitioning to this much bigger public school. And even though I worried that the counselors are assigned to a lot of students, I felt they were accessible through their frequent emails and meetings, they were communicative, and it was a workable arrangement. The school also have great college tools and websites for coursework, and Naviance was very helpful for college applications. Many resources are available to us through TUSD. We receive regular communication from the principal, can choose the amount of information to receive about the student, and it is a great community. I felt overall that the school is very well run, handled COVID-19 well, and turned out a lot of happy and excellent students.

I sent my 4 kids to West high. Although I would not say this is the best school, it knows how to take care of students and very reasonable, friendly atmosphere. No complaints.

I have cousins who wish they had gone to West High instead of South High. Better diversity and collaborative environment. Beautiful campus.

A complete disaster. I would not recommend to anyone. Every aspect about it is negative. Even the school looks like a prison! West is worst, not best.

The English department is fine and so are the other languages. I have nothing but praise for Ms. Kim who teaches physics and I am told the anatomy teachers are very good though I have never taken that class. I have enjoyed all my classes in the art department but aside from that the experience has been horrible. The math department is pathetic there is possible one good teacher and even then its questionable. However it is the administrators that do the most damage. The school is in horrible disrepair and even when the school has no power so not even the toilets function they refuse to send the students home. The rules and policies are so restrictive that the overall experience is depressing at best. The counselors gave students a week notice on very key college deadlines and October senior year was the first time the college admissions process was discussed in any detail. Parental complaints have no effect either because they refuse to answer the phone or respond to messages. Often even going into the office does nothing because neither the principle, dean, or either vice principle is in the office and each of their individual secretaries send the parents away rather than allow them to wait if they so desire. Those who can do, those who can't teach, and those who are incapable of even teaching become administrators at West High.

part 2 --The underclassmen english classes are inconsistent: Eng1H, I had an challenging honors teacher (strict with assignments and deadlines), whereas I knew friends that did nothing in class and breezed through with an A. An honors class. Conversely, Eng2H was a free period, whereas the other teacher held her students up to strict standards when it came to assignments. However, I know the stricter teacher has taken over Eng 2H, so my experience won't be an issue for future students. -I have nothing but praise for the AP English Lang (11th grade) teachers. I know they're all close with one another, coordinating their lesson plans. I love my teacher, who is attuned to the needs of both the high achieving and struggling students, and tries his best to promote class discussion.
