Office is very disorganized with registration. It was stated to me that by March 31st was the deadline for registration and my son would be able to attend via inter-district permit. Turning in the permit a day before the deadline, all of the sudden the rules change. Now my son had to be a FLUENT Spanish speaker in order to attend their school to learn SPANISH. I would have never bothered with this school and stuck with the best school district in Orange County instead of wasting my time with this school that's in a very low grade area IF THEY WOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND INSISTED THAT'S ALL THAT I NEEDED. Drive the around the area for yourself and you'll see homeless people lounging around. Now realizing this was a blessing in disguise and dodged a major safety bullet for my son and I.

Very good. We are a ethnically diverse family and love to see all the equally diverse faces in attendance at Washington!. Teachers care about students and we have experienced lots of encouragement and support. Our students enjoy their school experience and have pride in being Washington Explorer's!

I have a 4th grader and Kinder child at Washington and we couldn't be happier with the school. There are so many wonderful things - the teachers, staff, PTA, the parent community and especially the diversity of the student and families. I feel blessed my kids get to go here!

My daughters thrive/d at Washington. So many programs available, both have had excellent teachers. My oldest was in traditional English program and younger in dual immersion Spanish. Both excelled in academics (both in gate program) and have been in an environment where the priority truly is about the whole child. Teachers are all genuine and caring. Love the diversity of our student population. Cannot say enough wonderful things about Washington! Go Explorers!

Muy Contenta! Yes I am happy- my twins are in the dual immersion program and love every day- the teachers are great- caring and approachable. The parent community/participation is huge and shows that parents are involved in kids upbringing. The school facilities are great, technology ready and ample parking/ good drop/off system too. And care in taken and methods taken when kids need extra help.

Washington Elementary School, Redondo Beach. My son attended kindergarten and is now in first grade. So far, everything about this school has been outstanding. The teachers show great care for the children and my son has demonstrated that he is learning at a top level. The school is well organized and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this school.

My wife was a teacher for RBUSD CDC and we had two kids in Washington, both in the CDC and one in PM kinder. CONS: The teachers ranged from our 3 year old's bully-for-a-teacher to our five year old's greatest ever kinder teacher. Whereas Washington's Kinder classes can NOT be beat, the CDC teachers range from 0's to 9's. PROS: The CDC Director Mrs. Martens spent more than her fair share of time with us and proved to be the most adept employee that we dealt with in the entire school district, including the administrators above her. ESPECIALLY more so than those above her actually. She's really doing the best with what they give her, really a bright spot in a rather AWEFUL district. So AWEFUL in fact, that when my wife got sick and asked for benefits due to her under the contract, they cut her hours in half and forced her out although she was quite a bright spot in her CDC. So, good teachers in Kinder, big hits and HUGE misses in the CDC. Decent admin in the elementary, great director in the CDC. Kids were great. Parents were great. We left everything behind after the district director's shinanigans.

My daughter has attended Washington from K-4. Initially I was a bit hesitant because of online reviews, test scores, and the fact that the school doesn't look so amazing from the outside. But we decided to give it a try, and I've got to say that this is truly a wonderful school. The teachers really make the difference--they are dedicated, motivated, and positive! I'm not a fan of the PTA, and do think there should be some improvements made to the physical plant, but I'll let the next story illustrate how impressed I am with the place. We're about to move to another home in Redondo Beach that is much closer to one of the other, higher-rated schools. My daughter and I jointly agreed that she should attend 5th grade at Washington--it's just that good.

Washington Elementary is our home school and we could not have wished for a better school for our child. Every teacher is top notch and the staff could not be more caring.

My child has been going to this school the last 6 years. I am so happy with the beautiful and organized the school is. The play grounds are huge and clean, where children are suppose to play. The teachers there are warm, caring and attentive to their students. The teachers are so loving during drop offs and informative when I pick up. I hear lots of funny story of what my child did that day and how much pride the children have for their class. All in all, I am able to go to work in ease every day knowing my child is happy, safe and loved.

So far so good! My son has attended his first 4 days of Transitional Kindergarten at Washington and is having a good time and getting into the swing of things. His teacher, Mrs. Carpenter, seems very happy and positive. He comes home each day telling me of a new story, song, or other fun thing he did, with excitement. I hope it continues going well!

Historically, Washington Elementary School in Redondo Beach had a reputation as the worst among the districts seven elementary schools. Many of the families are working class, and parent participation was low. That's all changed. Parents are more involved, test scores are soaring and Principal Jackie O'Sullivan is leading the charge. The teachers are all enthusiastic, caring and strict (according to my kids, anyway!). The PTA is a small but dedicated group that works hard to find ways to enhance the education experience and keep improving the school. We're proud to be Explorers!

Washington Elementary is a great school. My niece is in the dual immersion program and she loves it. My nephew graduated from Washington and is now in the eighth grade. He also enjoyed his elementary school years. The teachers are very nice and informative. The kids respond well to them. I am proud of my decision to put my kids in Washington. We have come from another school district where they didn't even supply the classrooms with paper to do written work and Washington didn't ask for any school supplies. Everything was provided.

I am not only a parent at the school, but also a teacher. My child has attended Washington for 4 years now. I chose to have him attend Washington over our high-performing neighborhood school because I love my school so much. I haven't regretted the decision for a second. I have been happy with every teacher my son has had. The teachers and principal at Washington are extremely dedicated and work very well together. There are many opportunities for after school classes and in-school enrichment.

Excellent school. We do not live in Redondo beach but have a permit to attend Washington for the Spanish Dual Immersion program. Not once have I regretted my decision and am thankful everyday that she is in the program and school. Not only are the academics stellar, but the kindness and support of the teachers are amazing. This includes both English and Spanish kinder teachers and classes. The Principal is so easy to talk to and makes everyone feel like Washington is their home. Also, the parent support and participation is phenomenal, and that is because we are all Very proud to be apart of Washington Elementary.

Never could I have imagined a more loving, warm, inspirational school! As a teacher, I tend to be critical. Now I am just jealous because I want to be a part of this incredible school. The staff is so happy and motivated which in turn makes the parents and students ready to excel. My child is in the dual immersion class and I am just in awe with the entire program and teachers. I feel like we are incredibly lucky to be part of Washington Elementary!

We absolutely love Washington! Our daughter is in 1st grade now, and we have had 2 fabulous years so far. I am a teacher in another district, so when the time came to decide where my children would go to school, I was very particular about making the right choice. My husband and I are both on PTA and he is also on the School Site Council, so we are very involved in the school. The teachers are well-trained, the principal is enthusiastic and dynamic and the population is diverse and friendly. There are so many great activities available for people who want to be involved. Our daughter also goes to the Child Development Center on campus for afterschool care and we love that as well. My daughter loves school!!
