I’m in 7th grade and it’s been 2 years. Overall I haven’t seen any bullying but very dumb 6th grade fights. Teachers are really nice and teaches us well. They have great programs. Would recommend this school!

Many people said that there are bullying problems at this school. While there may have been in previous years, there are no bullies that I have seen at this school so far. There are really great teachers here, and they handle Covid restrictions well. I mean, the teachers handle Covid restrictions well; the students don’t always follow them...Overall, this is a great school and I would recommend it.

My daughter has gone to Adams for 7th and 8th grade and has loved it. Teachers are great and push the students academically.

My initial review of this school was positive but after 2 years this school is going down. The teachers are not teaching and the principle does nothing when you bring your concerns to her. I am pulling my children out of this school.

My review is to help other parents to understand we've experienced similar bullying issues and saw lots of other great students going thru unnecessary and extremely difficult bullying situations. Yes, you may find bullies at other schools, but we send our kids expecting the adults/professionals who run the school to protect them from bullies, and you would think by now Adams would be experts on this matter but their not! We really liked most of the Adam's teachers, however dealing with the administrative offices is frustrated, they are very unprofessional and uncooperative when it comes to handling the "bullies"! I hope you continue to have good experiences with Adams BUT don't make an opinion about other parents and their situations trying to make Adams a safer environment for learning. Kids often kill themselves because of bullying, you should respect our concerns and constructive criticism also be grateful that is not your child who has had to experience it. Thank you

I hope people read posts for what they truly are. A post done yesterday was from a parent who refused to deal with bullying and enrolled their child in a self defense class...naming the group by name etc. I guess I should check other schools and see if Triton by John is trying to drum up business. Bottom line is that Adams is not a perfect school, but none of them are. I currently have a 7th grader there and my oldest just finished at Adams and is at Redondo Union keeping the same straight A GPA she left here with. In this, my 4th year with a student at Adams, I have heard very little about bullying. I don't doubt that some students experience problems at school, I'm sure it happens at every school no matter what neighborhood you live in. Don't let the poor experience by a few parents taint your view about this school. It is a good school!

Bullying problem is out of control. I agree with the other posts here. My kid is a social, involved sports minded boy. For the the first year we went through all the "right" avenues to help stop the bullying without any success. So t the beginning of the second year when the bullying started again I refused to deal with it so I enrolled both my kids an Anti-Bullying/Youth Self Defense class then told them, "a bully can say whatever he wants but if they lay a hand on you defend yourself and use all force necessary to restrain them until an adult comes". The classes they are taking at Triton by John, a former professional MMA Wrestler, is giving them the confidence they need to walk through the halls at Adams knowing they can protect themselves if it comes to that. I am happy to report since they have started taking the anti-bullying/self defense classes I have not had either son get in the car after school with a story of a problem they are having with some bully at school. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands and in this case I know we have made the right decision.

Not only is this our last year at Adams, but our last year with RBUSD. The experience here has been so disheartening, we are moving to another district. Administration is so poor and ineffective, we are just "done".

Our student with no disciplinary history and 3.47 GPA endured daily bullying at Adams middle school. The students bullying her has been done so verbally, physically and through social media. They have threatened, intimidated, harassed; even more troubling is that they have been encouraged and helped by a parent. This horrible mother of one of these bullying student has the school staff administration on speed dial and constantly buys them lunches or Starbucks almost daily the entire school year, favoritism. The school district violates ED codes: 5145.2, 5131.2, 234.1. Throughout the entire school year we brought this to the attention of the administration office at Adams and District with ZERO help. Lots of phone calls, e-mails and in person meetings took place to discuss this matter. The harassment and bullying increased; nothing was done to ensure the safety of our child. I want what our child wants, not just words in a policy but action. I wanted Adams Middle School to take action immediately and properly discipline any bullying students never happened. Adams is joke regarding zero tolerance policy for bullying and providing students a safe environment to learn.

The Adams school administration is not taking any steps to improve student safety on campus. I can speak from our own experience over a 6 month time frame. The anti-bullying program called,"Speak Up and Be The Change" does no work if you do nothing about it. Our neighbors pulled their kids out of that school for the same reason, and we keep meeting more and more families with the same problem. Our kid is an A students whom also participates in extracurricular programs helping out the school. The parent whom called other previous reviews mediocre, probably works for the school district or has some connection with the administration trying to cover up the major issues the school has. We are big group of parents complaining about how disappointed we are that our outstanding students are having to endure the worst experience in an UN-SAFE environment and no hope for change. Mr. Taranto and Mrs. Gotanda are incompetent! We will home school our kids rather than send them to a Bad school like Adams! DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS THERE!!!

not a fair assessment. Do you want to know what kind of kids AMS has? AMS has some of the most kind, mature, and articulate students I have met. They are helpful whenever I am on campus to help out and have manners. Does this mean that I have been a parent volunteer at AMS for 3 years. So, you can say have seen a lot in the three years. After reading the reviews on this site, I am upset by the amount regarding bullying. In the 3 years, since Mr. Taranto and Mrs. Gotanda came on board, I have seen a positive effort to encourage students to make good behavior choices. To say that the administration does nothing is there are no bad eggs? Of course, not. There are a handful of kids who are not mature enough to make the right behavior choices. In regards to these individuals, those behaviors are dealt with in a timely manner. Good behaviors starts at home with good communication with your children. Teach our kids to speak up for each other. To help those that cannot help themselves. Empathy and good behavior starts at home. Most of Adams parents do this. The ones that don't are usually the most negatively vocal.

I'm happy to see the teachers, administrators and students taking a stand against bullying. My son knows that they've "got his back." Last year he was being bullied at lunch, a student who witnessed it anonymously reported the incident and my son was able to get his lunch period changed. The counselor even called me at work to let me know what had happened. This year, I've joined with other parents and school staff in helping to promote anti-bullying and we have started a "Speak Up and Be The Change" campaign. The principal and school administrators welcome parent involvement and we are even planning a special Parents' Night Screening of the documentary film BULLY. I'm honestly impressed with all that the school is doing to stop bullying behavior and foster kindness.

My son got bullied teachers said dont be a tattle tale. He got so bullied he is still in a depression. Administration gives NO consequences at all. SEND YOUR KID ONLY TO THIS SCHOOL ONLY IF YOUR CHILD WANTS TO GET BULLIED!

My child attends Adams Middle School and I love it!! Every time I visit I find the principal walking around and talking with the kids, making sure everyone is behaving as they should. Adams has a remarkable Administration, Teaching Staff and a principal that really cares about his students and the school. The academics and extracurricular programs are outstanding. I can t believe the complaints in some of these other posts. I find that most complainers are always the last ones that volunteer to help. I work full time and still make time to visit the campus and volunteer as much as possible. Adams is a Top Notch Middle School!

THE TEACHERS ARE TOP NOTCH! THE STAFF IS TOP NOTCH! WHAT THIS SCHOOL LACKS IS PARENT PARTICIPATION. THE TEACHERS CAN MAKE YOUR KID BOOK SMART, BUT THE MANNERS AND RESPECT COMES FROM THE PARENTS. BULLYING STARTS AT HOME. TALK TO YOUR KIDS AND STOP BULLYING THEM THEY WILL STOP BULLYING THEIR PEERS.

I don't know what values this school reinforces, but what happened to my child shouldn't happen to anyone. The kids are awful. I visited at lunch and I saw groups of kids tormenting other kids. When a kid passes any group of kids they get looked at like they had a disease. Would love this school to have a reality show...no one would believe the kids could be this mean. I am sending my child to a different school this year because it is so bad, The administration should be ashamed.

I attended Adams in 6th and 7th grade. This is an okay school. Most of the students there are nice once you get to know them, but there are some students that are wanna-bees and want to be popular. in 2012 the principal had to expell two kids that brought knives to school. If you decide to go to this school, be careful who you/your child is friends with.

My daughter goes to this school and truly wishes she did not. Not many options in this school district. Bullied from the get go. Principal did nothing. She gets straight A's but is miserable everyday. She doesn't eat lunch and runs to the library where she can be safe. I'm so disappointed with this administration. Intern counselors are useless.
