Really great! I got involved in the PTA, volunteered in the class and library which maximized my students success!

This is my sons first year at victor and I was nervous to send him here. But we absolutely love his teacher and the office ladies and nurses are extremely helpful and kind women. They have to deal with so much and are not treated with enough respect. So I want them to know that my family appreciate all their hard work to make our children’s school experience a great one. And I hope that more parents understand all the pressure they have with only have two office ladies and about a thousand students in their school. Please so kindest to them and all that work at this amazing school.

This school is a literal melting pot with all the apartments nearby within it's boundaries and I've never felt uncomfortable, nor have I seen anyone else be made to feel that way either. I feel like the entire staff is warm and friendly and can't imagine them being any other way. I think that it may be possible for people to be on the offensive and perceive attitudes as being unfriendly or unwilling to accommodate but we, as parents or caregivers, need to be as invested and involved in our children's education as possible, not sit on the sidelines and wait to be told things about them. Never be afraid to ask questions! So happy to be a part of the Victor family.

My both kids go to Victor Elementary and they have enjoyed being a part of this larger school. I almost agree with some comments about the front office staff, but I also understand the enormous amount of work and requests they deal with in such a big school. Despite it all - my requests, concerns, and communications were returned and addressed in 24 hours. Including bullying, the first heartbreak, special home work requests, and kids development questions. My kids just started 1st and 3rd grade and they went to School today excited and confident.

My kid has been attending this school since kindergarten and the experience has progressively deteriorated to the extent that I cannot wait for him to finish with this school. The lower grade teachers were great, but 4th and 5th grade – not so much. The 5th grade teacher in particular is seen outsourcing the entire learning in the form of massive homework without introducing these concepts properly. Kids are harassed constantly in the name of preparing them for the middle school. Kept receiving feedback that my kid is not keeping up with homework and I thought that only my kid is struggling. But recently found out that most of the kids are struggling in this class and most of them are now less confident, scared of failure and even more scared of the middle school. The office ladies are absolutely terrible in their attitude. Are famously known for yelling and talking down with everyone walking in. In last five years, I cannot think of one instance where I have seen them or heard about them being kind to anyone. I am willing to bet that they are unemployable in any other profession as such attitude is not saleable anywhere. I blame the principle for encouraging such attitude. The school nurse is an exception and has been very good from what I hear from my kid and others.

My son has attended this school for 5 years and it is truly one disappointment after another. Half of the teachers were great, the others I was very disappointed with. 1. The kinder-garden teacher did not discuss with me that my son was not learning as within the norm. She discussed this with me 1 month before school was out. Hello, this information would had been useful for me many months prior. I could have enrolled him in tutoring. 2. One teacher decided to stop giving homework 4 months before school was over. Why? I have no idea. 3. The other teacher was rude and absent 1/4 of the YEAR. Half the time I would ask my son how school went and it seemed like he always had substitutes. 4. The principle is horrible. It went as bad as to me having to report his behavior to the district. 5. The office staff are rude and will snap and scream at teachers and parents. 6. The staff were not sensitive to that my son THAT struggled with respiratory problems and missed a lot of school. ( 12 days in total) They did not care that I had excuses for the absences from a doctor. They actually wanted me to take my son to school in the morning to the school nurse so that the nurse would evaluate if he was fine or not to take to school. I thought that was ridiculous. And they did not like it. 7. One of the teachers told my son that "Your mom must not care about you bc i had not taken him to get his eye exam". Hello there is this thing called an appointment. & I was waiting for my time.8. I have 2 friends that have sued the school and won. IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION, CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL!!!!! RUNNNNNNNN!!!

I'm only giving this school 3 stars because of the Principal & my daughter's 1st & 2nd grade teachers. The staff in the office were always extremely rude, and dare I say I very prejudice against any Latin race or any other race for that matter, along with my son's 5th grade teacher he had such a hard time that year and I feel so bad that I didn't speak up more for him. I have always been shy as a parent, I should have filed a major complaint, I don't think any kid should be ridiculed the way some of the teachers treat the students is so unethical. I really hope they have improved, I am so relieved my daughter got to complete her Elementary years at Towers, I love the staff they are how all schools should be, welcoming and polite to all parents regardless of race.

If there was an option for zero stars - I would rate this school as zero. We came to Torrance from out of states and our daughter did not speak English. The school showed no empathy to her situation, kids were abusing her and the staff did not care about it. Also the office staff is the worst I have ever met. They have no patient to anyone, they just give to you a fake and creepy smile, that implies you are not wanted in their office. This is the worst school in LA county.

An absolute disappointment with this school regarding the ability to deal with criticism, administration and leadership.

My offspring is going to Victor for a few years now. The Office Staff is extremely rude and do not have manners. It seems they hate foreigners and TUSD does not care about how bad the office staff is treating people at Victor. They should be fired asap.

This is a great school, unless you are African American. My child who is a great student was treated as a failure from the beginning. He is in the 4th grade. His teacher did not care about his education and had to be chased down for any feedback. I get it, we're not supposed to be in your school or your neighborhood. My child will be coming back next year and we will be fighting for him to get a good education.

My daughter is finishing the fifth grade at this school. So glad that she doesn't have to do another year here. It was horrible. Her teacher was the worst teacher ever. She came home one day and said she had taken a 2 1/2 hour nap and her teacher DIDN'T notice! The homework time was unreasonably long. I'm talking like 3 hrs a night every night for a fifth grader! I am a teacher myself, and know what a good teacher is. My daughter's teacher was not a good teacher. I'm angry I cannot say her name here, but some of the things that happened in class: lunch or snacks stolen from backpacks, and never addressed. Homework stolen, so that my daughter started writing her name in pen on every single piece of paper she handed in, lest another student erased her name and took credit for her work; student project turned in that were obviously done by parents (displayed during open house, which was very late in the year), and project after project was assigned, once there were THREE project due in one week! I'm sorry the teacher wanted to make her class look good for open house, but totally unreasonable!! She also kept inaccurate records of assignments and tests, which I found really disturbing!

Definitely Victor is a great school. My child loves the school with all round development of academics, athletics and extracurricular activities.

What to say...Its about kindergarten experience. One side school is claiming to be best school & other side they need such a huge improvement. No doubt , Office staff is really really rude. Specially with the kids. By mistake if the kindergartener had a accident(Potty), this staff make such a fun that the kid goes into depression. One of the kindergartner teacher had a record of suspending min 3 kids/year. How much do the teacher expect from kindergartener? Do they really understand the meaning of suspension at that age? Teacher don t even try to solve the problem inside the class bet'n the kids but directly send him to the principle. Principle don t try to find out the exact happening, chance of improvement, however believe the teacher & directly suspend the kid. Is the suspension really way for kinderer improvement? This impacts on the kid that . the best & most active student from Pre-K; goes to KG and goes into depression & lost all his/her confidence. In future grades, he don t even try to express himself or true complaints about others even though he is right. I think there should be some enquiry about the suspensions happening in this school in kindergarten classes.

Both my children are currently attending this wonderful elementary school. I find it to be running really smoothly from the minute you walk into the front office till you leave. The office staff are very helpful, which is why I am not sure why there is some negative comments. Both have always been very helpful and informative. It does get busy in there sometimes with parents wanting attention at the same time, but remember, there are only 2 office staff working. The teachers are absolutely wonderful. I have heard at other schools parents talk about 'that teacher that you don't want' but here at Victor, I feel very fortunate to not have that problem. This elementary school has almost 1000 kids however it never feels crammed, kids/parents get the attention/help needed and seems to be running smoothly. Mr. Baker is the wonderful principal. He is very energetic and approachable. I feel confident that my children are receiving a wonderful education!

Both of my children attended Victor. I think it was a great experience. They both had great teachers that were sweet and friendly but knew when to put to their foot down. My only complaint is about Mr.Baker. I think he arrived when my youngest was in the 3rd grade. He was a big change from our last principal and not always in a good way. But he is my only complaint. I would say there is a great parent involvement and the school is very diverse

I recently enrolled my son at Victor and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised during my visit. I had read all of the comments here about how rude the office staff is and had prepared myself for the worse! :-) I could not be any more pleased with the manner in which I was greeted and helped throughout the entire process. The staff member who assisted me was very helpful, pleasant and thorough. I was in and out in no time. I am looking forward to a great school year at Victor! :-)

My children may be attending Victor next fall and I Just spoke with the secretary to get information. I could not believe the rudeness and ignorance - she was incredibly condescending, cut me off, argued with me, and presented the school and principle in such a negative light that I would have serious concerns as a parent - especially if I or my child ever had any problems at school that needed attention.
