School programs are great. There are a lot of parents/guardians who pays am/pm flash(afterschool program) each month but have to pay extra when kids need to attend flash during holidays or spring breaks. Don’t offer discounts for vacation days which is fine but why charge extra for the month parents already paid in advance? I love the school but this is the only thing that bothers me the most. Fyi, price was 35/day last year and it has increased to $50/day this school year.

The schools offers small class sizes, but little diversity. The students seem to be learning, however, that comes from the excessive homework and after school tutoring that has become the norm. Anxiety is common in the upper grades. Most students go to a tutor or after school program for assistance. The administration is not honest in regards to the safety of the students and ignores parent emails and concerns. They dismiss concerns by calling them rumors. There are not many opportunities for parental involvement. There is a handful of parents that are allowed on campus and fieldtrips. You will begin to notice that its the same parents. Positive Reviews come from the parents on the board or parents that are also employees of the school. I recommend that when looking for a school talk to parents who have left too. Make sure your views align with the school's view and mission of the church. Ask questions in regards to the discipline policies and how they are implemented. The handbook doesn't always align to how the admin follows through.

With the recent addition of an inclusion specialist/resource teacher, the school is beyond 5-stars. My 3 kids are supported by staff all around, and the learning environment facilitates growth and excellence. Small class sizes compared to public school which allows for greater differentiation for each student. Tons of after school extras, before and after school care, music, IT/computer classes, math specialist, aids in the TK & Kinder classes…I could go on and on! My kids have been at First Lutheran since they were 3 months/1year/1year.

We have been at First Lutheran since preschool. What a wonderful learning environment. Great faculty and staff resulting in students being very well prepared for high school. Faculty and staff are very interactive and responsive. If you are looking for a quality, faith based education for your child, First Lutheran is your place.

A favorite in the South Bay, and voted as such by Daily Breeze readers; this school boasts small class sizes, a loving and caring faculty and staff, and a stellar education with lots of extras. There are two classes per grade except for DK (Developmental Kindergarten), a beautiful campus and up-to-date technology. Music and Art Programs are a strong point here, as well as fabulous STEM classes. This school has preschool through 8th grade. The curriculum readies students for even the most challenging high schools. If test scores are your thing, First Lutheran students score high. The parents and teachers here give a wonderful family feel and I know my kids are in the best school for us!

I am now a Junior in high school and I can honestly say that First Lutheran was the best school I have ever attended. All of the teachers made sure that their students were prepared for high school. I had the opportunity to serve on L.E.A.D., the student government, here I learned so many helpful life lessons. All of the teachers are friendly and I truly believe that they genuinely know me. If you are considering sending your child here, I encourage you to do so . I wouldn't trade my time at this school for anything else!

The school used to be much better in 2013 but sadly the english teacher was pressured to leave and replaced by the co-principal. Now the grades in english have gone down and the classes are larger for the majority of the core classes.

Great school, small class size, 2 classes per grade. We really like the values the school teaches our 6th grader (we've been here since Kindergarten.) The only downside is we sometimes feel there is more homework than really necessary - it looks like busy work - compared to the amount our friends in public school are assigned. Overall we feel our child will be very well prepared for high school.

Excellent Private School. I feel the educational level is excellent and my two kids have excelled. I have one in 8th grade and my boy is in 1st grade, excellent teachers and office staff.

Great school with exceptional teachers. If any parent complains about this school, they should have their child attend a public school. They'll really appreciate what they have.

My daughter started Kindergarten as my marriage was unraveling. Not only did I personally feel welcomed and supported, but I felt that my daughter received extra attention and care on top of everthing academic the school had to offer. Coming from a background of traditional, serious studies, I have been very happy with everything that she learned, from grammar, to math, to science, social skills and self-worth as well as a sense of others developed through kindness and generosity. The bonus has been that the very same teachers/staff also participate in a rich culture of music and drama that include the children by means of programs offered by the school and incorporated by the Church. Everyone becomes part of the bigger picture that really strives for the wholesomeness of the child in relationship to its place in the world and God. What a wonderful place to be part of!
