The school does not educate its special needs student or treat them as equals

My daughter goes to Hawkins elementary ,the staff is great and my little girl last year went into kindergarten not knowing how to write her name ,,two weeks later she could do it ! They have extra class helpers so kids that need the extra time can get it one on one ! I do love Hawkins a lot and so does my child!!! I think the only bad thing about this school is how hectic it is picking your kid up from school !!

I am greatly impressed with Hawkins Elementary!! My son was battling disciplinary issues at his old school in Northwest Iowa. His teachers were labeling him a trouble maker and unable to follow directives. He has been on an I.E.P. and enrolled in special classes since starting school. He came to Hawkins in 2012 and immediately started to SOAR!!! No more I.E.P. No more special classes. BRAVO!!!! My son enjoys school now and I loved seeing A's and B's on his report card. I'm also delighted that my little girl will be starting kindergarten with Hawkins this year.

My kids have went to Hawkins for three years now and I think this is a good school. Teachers send home many letters to let you know progress or behavior problems homework is daily. Has nice family functions. It could use some work but it is a good public school overall.

I am very dissapointed with how Hawkins handles diciplinary procedures. If a student harm another child in any physical way they should be disciplined! I don't believe in any excuses. I must say I am not impressed with Hawkins. They must not pick and choose what rules to follow. I also have experienced very poor parent/ teachers communication.
