We just moved to the area. My daughter has had so much support from the teachers and found some wonderful friends and clubs to connect and join.

I went to this school. My semester at this high school was very disappointing. Due to lack of student and staff respect. Along with the six teachers I had, only had one teacher that met to other California high schools in the area. Due to my parents and my unsatisfying and disappointing time at Tehachapi High. The remainder of my high school years, I transferred. I was grateful that I did, due to that I was able to be on the "right" track on California High School education. Also, some of their Yard Duties were ill mannered and treated me as if I was a dimwit. Not professional, along with the Vice Principal at the time, and other staff in the Office. Their staff seem to lack responsibility, respect, and played "special treatment" towards students. (Hopefully this has changed since 2008-2009,June.) I ended transferring to a local High School down the 58. (Personally thought it was the best choice my parents and I could have done.)

Tehachapi has done a good job implementing new policies and procedures while still keeping to practices that has made it one of the best schools in Kern County. Students that go to THS are consistently getting academic as well as athletic honors and are very bright and talented. The top tier students attend some of the best universities in the nation upon graduation. Money is a challenge, as with all CA schools, but the teachers do a great job adjusting and giving what they have towards a quality education. The facilities (football/track, baseball/softball fields, etc.) could use an overhaul, but the athletic director, coaches and maintenance staff do a great job doing what they can. Great community and the school is one of the best to offer in the immediate area. If you're looking for a good small town community coupled with an above-average to good school, you won't find a better combination in central California. Take a walk down main street & explore Tehachapi; compare it with other surrounding communities; Mojave, Cal City, Rosamond, Bakersfield, Lancaster/Palmdale,etc. The air and town are clean, the people are friendly, & the community gives great support to the kids.

From my personal experiences at Tehachapi High School is that our is very competitive. The teachers here are not the best I have to admit, but we do have one student going to Yale. Being one of the few and only Asians at Tehachapi High is very hard. There are days were people judge you on what you wear, and how you act. There are some cliques at our school who won't talk to you if you don't have what they "have" in clothing and electronics. I think Tehachapi High can do better, in picking teachers, and administration. I would not recommend this school until they get there act up picking teacher that ACTUALLY care about their students.
