All 3 of our children attended Carden. One is now in college and 2 are in high school. Carden did an excellent job preparing my children for high school both academically and socially. All of my children were in honors classes in high school and it is because Carden built a solid foundation. Carden also prepared my children for public speaking and completing research projects and reports. Carden has high expectations and will do anything necessary to help all children reach the expectations. I am appreciative to the wonderful teachers and staff at Carden for all they did for my children. We highly recommend Carden to all families. It is an important investment in your children.

Our family is very happy with Carden School! We have been part of the school for five years and it has consistently exceeded our expectations. I think the negative reviews come from disgruntled parents who have children who cause problem, thus they get into trouble. The staff is very loving and fair. The academics are stellar in all grade levels. The teachers and administration communicates daily with parents. My children are excited to go to school everyday and we are always impressed with what they are learning. The field trips and after school programs are excellent. I recommend all families check out Carden School!!!

Carden school used to be a much greater school, many teachers coming and going children can't get a proper bond with Teachers, my child also complains about "Yard Aids" and P.E. Advisors" with most being "unfair" and boasting about other children (specifically favorites) my child also complained about seeing people be "benched" or having to sit down on a bench with no talking, no moving and no eating, for the entire recess for simple mistakes, i used to pay money for my children's school lunches (ones that the school premade) and every year they degraded a significant amount ti the point where they completely canceled the program they also removed the Computer Class director for a random reason while my child claimed the he was the nicest teacher at school. This school is over priced for bad quality service. There are supposed rumors that there is supposedly next year not going to be a 6-8 grade next year just a heads up

Having had my children in multiple schools, public and private, and in multiple states I rate Carden a 2. My primary concern is with the substantially lacking math curriculum. Both of my children who attended Carden for 2 years received straight A's in math while there. Entry level math testing at their new school was shocking - both are 2 grade levels behind. They are currently being tutored to catch up to their new classmates. It truly is strictly a curriculum issue. As Carden uses the "Carden" math curriculum particularly in the lower grades, altering even if the school desired to do so would be unlikely. Carden teaches math the way it was taught 30 years ago, and current standards are reflective of more complex problem solving. Students attending Carden will simply be unprepared in math. Recent changes in faculty also believe me to consider that there is a systemic issue with the school's long-term viability. There was a lack of respect given to students from some of the aides. This was repugnant to me as this is supposed to be a high morally demonstrative school. We also had concerns with other student behaviors and disruptions that were never properly resolved.

Carden is an excellent school. The principal, Mrs. Bekker, is respected and loved by all. She leads by example and expects the children to behave and do their best. She is kind, supportive, and fair. All the teachers are wonderful and the children love coming to school. All the teachers are credentialed and highly effective. The teachers have great classroom management and use positive reinforcement. The teachers take the students on great field trips. The school offers so much beyond stellar academics. The school focuses on character building. There are many enrichment programs, PE, art, band, Spanish classes, and the school participates in science fair, spelling bee, and essay contests. The environment is safe, clean, and welcoming. Parents are encouraged to help and give input. The school is very family friendly. The dress code is strictly enforced and all students are treated fairly. If you are new to Tehachapi, you should check out Carden School!!!

Carden uniform policy has gotten sloppy, no longer requires belts, tucked shirts, neutral shoes and stockings, or dress shirts on Mondays. It seems to be more of a "suggested" uniform policy lately. There has also been alot of teacher turnaround in the past 2 yrs, several first year teachers this year and last, and they don't stay. The incoming students reflect a less disciplined group than in previous years. Carden no longer conducts entrance exams, and this shows in the less academically-focused orientation of the student body. More kids are coming to Carden due to having behavioral issues at the public schools. 98% of the staff have kids that attend Carden (22% of the total student body) and these kids earn a disproportionate number of awards monthly yet are the most disruptive. We have been with Carden for 5 yrs with our daughter,so we have some perspective, when it was known for its academics and students with good manners. MUCH less community involvement than in previous years. Newer families might see it as a great school but families who have been there 8, 9 yrs might definitely see a downward trend regarding academics, uniforms, civility, and conduct.

Carden school of Tehachapi has been such a wonderful experience for my children. They have blossomed here. It is such a wonderful family atmosphere. All the students and teachers know each other and the older kids get to interact with the younger kids through reading buddies program. The teachers are all very caring and professional.

Carden is an excellent school. The public schools don't even come close to competing with the quality of education at Carden. It is an investment in your child's future and one I would pay double for. Carden has a great staff, phenomenal principal and involved parents. It's the best school in Tehachapi!

Carden is the best school in Tehachapi. It is a incredible deal for a private school education. The teachers are fantastic, the principal is progressive, the classes are small, plus there is fine arts and physical education...something the public schools in this area don't offer due to budget cuts. It's an investment in your child's education. Carden will foster a love of learning and school, while challenging and creating a solid education foundation prior to high school.

I have been a parent at Carden School for many years and I came across this website and I was shocked to see the review posted on January 21, 2013. The information is absolutely false. There has not been a lot of teacher turn over the past year. The school added some new teachers for new classes, but the large majority of the teachers have been there for many years. The updated reading program is fantastic and it promotes a common goal and giving back to others. The school always promotes community service. I agree that the school is moving in a different direction....but it is a fantastic direction of new ideas and very high expectations. The standards at Carden remain very high and the teachers, aides, and administration is top-notch. We could not ask for more. I give this school and all it represents an A++++++++!!!!! We decided against moving to another city with a better job offer because we want our children to stay at this school. Please read all reviews and you will see that Carden is the best place for your children.

Affordable and outstanding education! The students are polite and love learning. The atmosphere is family friendly. Expectations of academics and behavior are very high. The curriculum is challenging. The owners, principal, teachers, and aides are wonderful. This is the best school in the Tehachapi area for preschool thru 8th grade. Fabulous field trips and enrichment programs. Carden offers foreign language, clubs, student council, PE, computer classes, art, drama, choir, orchestra, martial arts, and daycare. I would pay 3 times the tuition for my child to be in this environment! Thank you CARDEN SCHOOL!!!

Both my children attended Carden School from kinder thru 8th and it was the best investment I ever made. My children learned all the necessary components to be successful in high school and college. Carden taught my children how to be motivated learners and respectful children. Words cannot express how grateful I am to Carden School of Tehachapi. This spring my son will be graduating from college with honors and I attribute it to the solid foundation that Carden School gave him. If you want the very best for your children, send them to Carden School.

This is a FANTASTIC school!!! I know my children are receiving a high quality education and they are truly cared about by the entire staff. The teachers go over and above their duties to make sure the children learn and excel. The teachers make learning a joy! The principal and vice principal are awesome. They support the staff and genuinely love each child. The expectations of academics and discipline are very high at Carden School. Problems are easily resolved because the teachers and principal are so easy to communicate with and they do what is best for the children. This school offers so many enrichments and clubs my children are excited about school every day. The field trips are wonderful. The daycare is affordable and high quality. Rumor has it that Carden will be starting a Preschool and I really hope so because Tehachapi needs another good Preschool! Way to go Carden School! YOU ARE THE BEST. Thank you for all you do for the children!!!
