This is a special school. My kids have thrived here. It is academically challenging but the teachers and staff are beyond supportive. They believe any kid can excel, and they provide them with a safe, disciplined, and loving environment to do so. My kids are learning Latin, poetry, art, logic, critical thinking, how to speak in public, and how to write clearly and persuasively. They are reading and discussing the great books of the Western tradition. Most importantly, they are learning more about God. Every class and every teacher point them toward Christ. That focus on Christ, and His love for them, is real, and is what sets this school apart from other options in Tehachapi.

My kids have attended two other private schools in larger cities before moving to Tehachapi. This school by far is the best of the bunch. The teachers truly care about their students, and it shows. My kids have flourished tremendously over the past 8 years they have been attending. The classical curriculum far exceeds the public-school curriculum, and it is worth every penny. The cost of the school is also not bad at all compared to the bigger city tuition. No one will find the "perfect" school. There are always going to be aspects that can be changed and areas to grow. For a such a small town, and such a small school...this place is the best option for our family.

I would NOT recommend this school. They claim to be above grade level and like to hold incoming kids back one year to improve grades. This makes the transition to return to public school even harder. They focus too much on religion and not enough on academics. After one year at H.O.S. We returned our kids back to public school where they were previously honor roll students only to test below grade level.

Save your money. Academics are average.Teachers are not credentialed and do not have proper training. Parents with no teaching background are utilized for substituting for teachers when they are absent. These parents are not fingerprinted for background checks prior to substituting. Playground is not secured from vehicles or access from the general public. Bullying is tolerated as they believe difficult children grow up to do great things. Teachers are not held accountable for unprofessional behavior.

Horrible, if you would like your child to be raised in a Christian environment, not just a Christian based curriculum Heritge Oaks is not a school for you. Their staff are completely hypocritical and do not practice what they preach whatsoever. So incompetent the entire school is incapable of even answering the phone at all, forget expecting them to return a messages because that is asking to much, and to even address let alone help address a problem is beyond them and they could care less about your child's well being or their education. Always have open houses to come see their rehersed classroom visits.

We recently moved to the area and Heritage Oaks has met every need for our unique and diverse family and our children. We love the family atmosphere, Christian focus and support!

Our daughter has attended both the local public school district and Heritage Oak and the difference in the quality of the curriculum is unbelievable. We are blessed by what she is learning and at the pace in which she is learning it. She has quality friendships and excellent relationships with the staff. It is a loving environment with high expectations for education, moral and faith. Heritage Oak School has greatly exceeded our expectations!

I attended HOS from preschool to graduation and developed life long friendships that have been invaluable from teachers, staff, and peers. The education I received balanced intelligence with kindness to develop self educators who were taught how to think rather than what to think. I especially loved the Omnibus program which is full of quality books, guidance through some of the most difficult concepts, and honest about daily struggles. I hope many more students get the opportunity to learn to think here and grow to become well rounded and creative individuals.

My daughter attended Heritage Oak School for 13 years (K-12) and she received an excellent education, both academically and spiritually. She easily completed her college degree without difficulties due to her foundation at Heritage Oak.

Two of my children have graduated from Heritage Oak School. They both received an excellent classical Christian education. They both posses a Biblical worldview and are equipped to serve Christ. The sense of community at Heritage oak school is uncommon. The teachers are excellent. I'm so glad we chose this school!

Establish Elementary school. Safe, modern and excellent teachers. Easy safe walk for most nearby students. Most of all, in a wonderful city and excellent county.

This is a decent school. It is for students in grades k-12 so classes are small. There is a total of 54 students in the entire school, so many grade levels are combined. Parents have to do a lot of volunteering and must raise at least $700 per year or the tuition greatly increases. The teachers are not credentialed by the state of California. Heritage Oaks is better than the public school, but not as good as the other private schools in our town. The staff is nice and have strong christian values. My son went to Heritage Oaks for 3 years.

My children attended Heritage Oaks for two years. The staff is very nice and the facility is nice. The problems we encountered were the push of religion over academics and the teachers not being credentialed. When we moved to another city both my children tested below grade level due to the curriculum at Heritage Oaks. Heritage Oaks did instill moral values in my children and it was a safe place, but I wish the academcis were higher quality.
