Poor environment for struggling students. They do not care about kids that are different.

I explored this school when my first grader wasn’t having the learning experience i wanted her to have. Since we’ve been a Taylor Exemplar she has bloomed!!! All the teachers are great and encouraging My daughter is now in the 5th grade and is excited to go to school everyday My grandson started here in Kindergarten and is now in second grade He was diagnosed with adhd last year and now has a 504 This school goes out of their way to find ways to keep him focused and interested Including allowing him to sit in on a 6th grade math class where its quiet and he can calm himself down while exposing him to advance math

Love the location which is safe especially because the police station is by there. Love the way the kids are educated. Love the whole atmosphere. The only bad part is there is no bus transportation for parents who have a work schedule that interferes with school schedule.

This school has helped to back the morals that we teach our children at home. The teachers have helped to guide our children to academic success. The environment is carring and focused.. The goal at TEA to guide each student to be academically successful and well rounded.

this school has a big bullying problem that they do not take serious....I know of 2 children that have been bullied to the point of coming home and crying it has been brought to the attention of the school with no promise of it stopping..we have to protect our children and this is not the place that will do it

Taylor Exemplar Academy provides lots of opportunities for families and students to interact outside of the school day with events such as movie nights, Learning Gizmos night, Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum/Science Night and more! The teachers here really care about their students and strive to provide a rigorous education. Finally, school wide Moral Focus Virtues are taught and enforced which helps build student character from the day they start at the school until the day they graduate.

Though I have taught for many years, this is my first year here at TEA. I absolutely love coming to work every day with an amazing staff, great administration, awesome kids, and involved parents. The teachers here are very dedicated to their students and focus all their efforts (before, during, and after school) on helping them to succeed academically, emotionally, socially, and any other way you could think of. The administration is visible and active in the building. They have built relationships with staff, students, and parents and truly listen to all of their voices to make TEA the best possible place for everyone. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with students from all the grade levels and I cherish that experience. I also love all the support parents give the school by volunteering for events/activities, helping in classrooms (with students and behind the scenes work), being active in the PTA, and so much more. I really could say so many wonderful things about this place. I am VERY happy to be a part of TEA and I look forward to even more positive changes and editions in the years to come!

I've been a teacher for several years and TEA is truly what I was looking for. The teachers, administration, and staff are dedicated to ensuring each student learns at their ability and pushes them towards success. The focus of morals at our assemblies create a culture within our building that will translate into positive participants in society. Here at TEA, the needs of the student comes first. Parents, teachers, administration, and staff are constantly working together in all areas to ensure the best environment and education for our students. TEA is a school dedicated to your child and their future. It is a blessing to want to go to work each and everyday to be a part of something amazing!

As a school principal and parent to three amazing children I realize the importance of a high quality education. National Heritage Academies offers families an opportunity to have rigorous academics as well as a moral focus opportunity. At Taylor Exemplar Academy you are greeted by a front office staff that is warm and welcoming. There are 5 different administrators that oversee teachers and students in their wings and who are available to discuss any concerns or needs that parents/students/staff have. The staff are dedicated to the scholars that we service each day and are some of the best people I have had the privilege to work with. The parent community does an amazing job of embracing new families and helping them understand the different expectations at TEA as well as supporting the staff each day!During the 11 years that TEA has been open, there have been 4 Building Principals. Change is difficult for everyone and that is why I am committing to being part of the TEA community for years to come. As we grow together as a school community, we will be able to take our school to even greater heights! We hope that you give us an opportunity to educate your children and partner with you to prepare them for a successful life after TEA. Please call the school or stop by for a tour to learn more about what we have to offer. Thank you!Ms. Nickel - Principal, TEA

I have been teaching for 11 years and have never seen a more dedicated staff. The teachers are incredible. Every single teacher strives for each child in their class to be successful. They spend many hours after school and on weekends planning lessons, assessments, and differentiating to be sure each child has what they need to achieve at high standards. Teachers welcome students daily at the classroom door and invite them in on a positive note, giving each and every student a handshake, first bump, high five, etc.. The school is under new leadership this year and has already seen great successes. The principal has gone above and beyond to make sure her staff is happy and has what they need to teach. She is a great listener and thrives on constructive criticism given to her by her staff. She has rolled out a new intervention plan for our lowest achievers to be sure they have the small group/one on one time they need to be successful and build confidence in their learning. The principal has weekly staff meetings in which the staff can express their concerns, needs, and successes. This builds up morale and pushes the teachers to do their best. It also instills trust amongst the staff and leadership. The strict attendance policy keeps students in school and less likely to be absent. The moral focus virtues are taught daily and are encouraged throughout our building by every staff member. The students LOVE daily and weekly "brain breaks" where they get to dance, move, do yoga, etc... Time after time I am amazed at the love and dedication the staff pours out to these kids.

We have a new principal this year and she is AMAZING! She has come to our school and done some awesome things not only with students and staff, but with our parents as well. She upholds our moral focus virtues and holds everyone accountable. She takes time to listen to our students, parents, and staff. Our staff is also AMAZING! We capture kids hearts from young 5's through middle school. We hold all of our students to high standards because we know they are all capable of accomplishing their goals. I can attest to our teachers putting kids first throughout the building because I went from being a long term substitute teacher to a full time teacher three years ago. All of the staff in the building encourage our student's to do their best. We have open communication with our families and make learning fun at TEA. Weekly e-mails along with phone blasts are sent by the principal. Each grade level has weekly newsletters as well as some type of open communication with our parents such as class dojo or Remind. This allows parents to communicate easily with our teachers. As far as attendance we uphold our attendance policy very strictly for both students and staff. If students are late or missing school they are not able to learn the material they need to reach their full potential. Same goes for our staff, if we are not there to teach our students they are losing out on valuable learning time so we are held to strict policies so everyone reaches their goals. Students get excited about earning tokens for being on time to use at our school store. At TEA not only are we educating your student in the core subjects along with specials classes, we are teaching valuable moral focus lessons that will coincide with life lessons as well. Overall, TEA is a wonderful place to educate your children and work there as well.

As a current teacher at Taylor Exemplar Academy, I cannot say enough good things about the positive changes that have been made this school year. We have an amazing leadership team that is dedicated the academic and moral growth of all students. We have hardworking teachers who are constantly pushing themselves and their students to be their best. Specifically, we have an intervention team and special education team made up of some of the most phenomenal teachers I have ever met who ALWAYS have the students' best interests at heart. They are so dedicated to making sure that all students, especially those who are struggling, meet their potential. TEA also offers art, music, technology, and PE for all students. We also have an NHA teacher of the year and another teacher who was also nominated for that award. I am a fairly new teacher, meaning that I have worked in multiple schools over the past 5 years (internships, student teaching, subbing, etc.) and I would still and do choose TEA every day.

We loved TEA last year, my son had an amazing teacher. This year we have an amazing teacher as well (Mrs. Browning) she's great when it comes to communication and ensuring her students are making good progress. I don't love the pickup and dismissal process, they don't enforce "rules" and we've been late to school and me to work due to parents not following guidelines. The turnover rate of teachers is kind of disappointing as well. Overall, education is okay, processes and guidelines are not.

Mrs. Jakubik goes above and beyond in teaching my grandson. Her specialty is math and she has helped my grandson understand the math being taught. He says that he can always talk to her and she listens to what he says and helps with anything that troubles him in class. He says Mrs. Jakubik is one of the best teachers he's had. I thank Mrs. Jakubik for all the encouragement and being a mentor to my grandson. Anna McGrath, Charlies grandma.

The school was great through elementary school, not sure if it's new leadership or the middle school program but it's not the same. Disappointing

This school has gone downhill since the previous principal left. He was strict but kids in this area need that type of guidance. My daughter is a 3rd grader and has been attending since kindergarten and complains to me on a weekly basis on how students misbehave and the whole class is punished due to the bad apples who have little to no home training on how to behave in a classroom. My daughter states that activities are not being done because the entire class is punished. Teacher turnover rate is extremely high. There are new staff members each year for gym, music, art and etc. They took away after school care which is a hugh inconvenience and the dismissal is awful because almost EVERY student has to be picked up, somehow. Lastly, they removed the grace period in the morning, not a huge deal but come on, most jobs give you a grace period. My daughter asks me regularly to go to a new school and we will certainly check into doing so. Another thing the parents overall are not friendly at this school beware.

Unfortunately, the school doesn't have fair disciplinary practices across the board for every child regardless of skin color. The staff is viewed as being correct and the student, especially if they are a child of color, is viewed as wrong. The current principal doesn't investigate incidents before suspending the student and the staff turnover is high. I am disappointed because I did see the school as being good academically; however, it isn't a safe place for students to go to where a parent can be certain that incidents involving bullying or false accusations against a child will be investigated completely and fairly. Sadly, a parent cannot really voice their concern regarding their child and the way the school is ran to the principal or the individual over them. To make matters worse, a parent can only go so far for assistance and it may not be resolved fairly. For the record, Trustpilot is a one sided review site that is monitored by Taylor Exemplar Academy. Other views that were posted by parents who are frustrated were deleted by the staff. In conclusion, students do not have a voice at this school. Concerned parents do not have a voice at the school. Incidents are not investigated completely before suspensions and staff stands by staff and not the student. The principal is unreasonable on this issue. This is a grave concern.
