Great school. The teachers and the administration do a great job.

Turner/ Bartels K-8 have many dedicated teachers and staff that work tirelessly to provide equity and opportunity to all students. Teachers continuously, engage, and professional development because they are dedicated to providing the best opportunity to students and families in our school.

My kids have been at this school for years and we love it. The teachers go above and beyond to make learning engaging and really care about my kids. They put on fantastic literacy and STEM night events that are fun for the whole family. The music program offers multiple ensemble groups that my kids have been excited to participate in, there are fun and educational field trips offered to reward positive behavior and the Technology Student Association is one of the top chapters in the state!

Awesome teachers, counselors, and one of the best principals around.

With 2 kids at the school, there is a lot of support. Love the music program and other opportunities the school provides for families. There is a great community effort and we have had good communication with our teachers who work hard to partner with parents about their child’s development and learning.

We moved here in 2022. Our oldest started in 1st grade at TBK8. We had a positive first year at the school and were thrilled when our youngest got into the VPK program! They both have thrived in PreK and 2nd grade this school year. We love TBK8!

The teachers bully children and when you report the bullying to the assistant principal they tell you and the child to your faces that your child is a liar and what your child says is going on in class with the teacher isn’t true, because their teachers are amazing and couldn’t possibly have done what you’re accusing them of. Not only do the teachers bully but the children at this school bully as well. Please consider not sending your child to this a school it is a danger to a child’s emotional and psychological well being.

The violence and drug activity at this school is alarming. It’s hard to believe that an elementary/middle school has this much of an issue with school fights and drug use in the bathrooms. The teaching staff and the administration have all given up on the school and any good students who tend to be more academically focused are completely ignored and abandoned. The campus is in poor condition and the environment simply isn’t fit for any learning or enjoyable school experience. A permanent closure is an order!

Dismissal time either WALKER or CAR RIDER IT’S a NIGHTMARE! School doesn’t have parking, won’t allow you to park NO where. Not even downtown schools have this problem. Not organized! Terrible. Prepare to WASTE 40-45 minutes in line arriving early or including arriving late!

I do not recommend this school because there’s too many fights, lack of discipline, and mean staff. Students here curse and bully each other with hatred. I wanted my child to be in a safe welcoming environment but instead they got fights on their first day of middle school. I’ve very disappointed on the behaviors of the students and the way the teachers handle this conflict as well. Hopefully this will clear up soon, or I will have to take my child out of tbk8.For example, the day school started I was cursed out by a teacher by accidentally going the wrong way, which put me in defense mode but I didn’t want to overthink the situation. Therefore I remained calm and polite, but once my kid came home and told me kids were threatening to kill him and he had to wait to have a conversation with the guidance counselor, I exploded. I was never attended to by the staff and felt disrespected as a parent. I’m just letting my kid stay for the end of the school year before I take them out of this school.

The Principal is amazing. The spirit of the school is very positive. The PTA is very involved and there is a good relationship between the parents, teachers, students, and administration. It is a big school but it has a warm community feel. Academics are great, but it helps if you are an involved parent, then your child may get a better teacher. The school is clean, welcoming, and bright. The neighborhood is very safe. The music and technology programs are extremely strong and win awards. If your student needs a teacher who is very positive and encouraging then TBK8 is a good fit for you. After a negative preschool experience, my child started TBK8, excelled, entered the gifted program, and started to love school. In 2nd grade, even though he was in gifted, a teacher identified a possible learning disability and we were able to get therapy which has helped him so much.

I highly do not recommend this school. I have sent my three children through many different types of schools throughout the years and this is by far the worst experience we’ve had. There is a lack of discipline and seriousness when it come so to matters of student safety and well-being

There is a lack of accountability and real apathy by the administration. If there is an issue (whether it's the bus schedule or an issue with a teacher), they refer parents to the district office. Teacher turnover is unusually high. We specifically purchased a home in our current community because the school used to have rave reviews and our experience until this year was good. I'm very disappointed and am looking for an alternate school.

This school is horrible. Just as another parent commented, if your child has a disability he/she will get lost in the cracks. They pretend as if they are trying to help you and act as if they care. But in reality does absolutely nothing. As a parent you end up wasting your time in meetings and talking with underpaid teachers who can't do much. At the end of the day, take your child to a private school, they will be better off. Get your child out of this school, as soon as possible. It's not worth the stress that you will undergo.

Its a good school with good teachers but the lack of security in this school scares me. The student dismissal during the evening for those who chose to park and ride is so chaotic and disorganised. They don't take enough care to see who picks your child. Every student that belongs to a class is brought out at the same time(say 20) and they all disperse in different directions at the same time with parents hovering around in large groups with the teacher in charge doing a poor job of head nodding in all directions (I assume they are parents since there is no way to really know). I feel if I don't go early my child might end up being picked up by somebody else. If you go late and pick your child from the front office, there is a customary sign out with no one watching or verifying who is picking the kid. If they do not fix this, they are going to have a case of missing child soon.
