Minimal communication with parents from office staff. Teachers have been great, but when there is s code yellow at school parents should be made aware the nature of the situation so that they may judge with parental right if the school is indeed safe to return.

The Oakland elementary School is a wonderful school to send your child. It has a five star rating for higher education. The staff seem to be hard but it is for the students good, self discipline and encouragement. I like was when the kids are on the playground enjoying each others break time. they may need more computers, and other supplies. great school are the best!

I love Oakland Elementary. I have 3 children who attend this school and the support of teachers and staff is outstanding. One of my daughter's had an incident at school, but the situation was taken care of immediately and staff have gone above and beyond to show little toleration for such behavior and ensure my daughter was well taken care of. I highly recommend Oakland to new families.

I am happy to say that my grandchildren love it at Oakland Elementary School. They are both learning so much and the teachers and staff are excellent. The school is very neat and nice atmosphere to be in. Thanks to Oakland Elementary for all you do.

OES is beyond one of the greatest schools in the world. (The world is not an exaggeration) Both of our kids have been blessed with great educators, and have amazing support from the staff. Unfortunately, there are irrational and inadequate parents that does not support or appreciate quality education. Clearly, disrespecting and dishonoring staff within the home does not presents appropriate parental role modeling for kids; and leaves me questioning the maturity of your parenting skills. However, as an involved father and mother, we graciously appreciate the quality of education given to our kids. There is favoritism.... OES favors positivity and excellence, not mediocrity and ignorance. Go Braves!!!!!! The Powell Family

Oakland is a grade A school!!! Mr. Phillips and Mrs. Ball run a tight ship and shows that they care about the childrens well-being. My daughter is now in the 5th grade and I've never had a problem with any of her teacher. It's feels good to send my child to such a great school.

I would first of all like to say that I think Oakland Elementary is an exceptional school, and I am sorry that there are a few(very few) people out there that disagree. Mr. Phillips is a great principal and cares a lot about his students. He is willing to help in anyway that he can, and his disciplinary methods are so good, that the mere mention of his name in my home will change an unruly behavior almost instantly! I have 5 year old twins in this school, and as an over protective parent, I feel great when I drop my children off at this school, and I am relieved that they enjoy being there. And even before the recent school attacks, I have always felt that my children were safe at Oakland because Mrs. Ball is awesome and no one gets past her! I love the teachers there, and I feel they do all that they can to make sure that all of the children succeed. How many schools do you know of out there where the kindergarten kids can read before entering 1st grade? And Im not talking about just words here and there, my children can sit down and read a beginner book, and school isnt over yet, so I look forward to seeing what they can do by the end of the year. Oakland Elementary is great!

It most certainly is an exceptional school. It exceptionally frustrating, horrifying, pretentious. The staff blatantly shows favoritism. No one takes any sort of responsibility for the education, and puts it all in the parents laps. Thus far the classwork that has come home is the same busy work day after day and the teaching is done with the homework. There is no Title I program so unless your child is gifted or in need of special ed, they get left in the dust. The PTA is an excuse to gather and gossip and have yet to make any real contribution to the school. I've never seen a school where popularity is given more credit than the 3 R's but this one strives to please the outward image bean counters. The principal is a sneaky weasel and has be renamed in my household as "Principal Pass the Buck", because that's all he does. Nothing is his responsibility, but he won't point you in the proper direction to get the answers you are looking for either. Save your time, just go somewhere else if you can.

IMy oldest child started at Oakland in Kindergarten and is now in the 2nd grade. It is an exceptional school. Each year her teacher has been everything I could expect allowing and encouraging her to advance at her own pace in reading, math, and all other subjects. My son just started this year at Oakland and, though very different from his sister, is receiving the same excellent teaching. The 4 rating does not do it justice. The art, music, p.e., and computer programs have been interesting, educational and a great addition to their education experience. I can be quite particular about the education of my children, yet have found Oakland a great elementary school with incredible teachers.
