Our school has the best families in world. We are a diverse community that is represented by 31 different countries. Families often start with limited English; however, with the high desire to learn, massive growth occurs and in many cases they out perform the students that have been in the district. It is an awesome school community.

The entire school staff works as a cohesive unit to carry out the mission of Dunaire. Under the leadership of Dr. Sean Deas, Dunaire has continued to excel, push pass their goals, and bring about a sense of pride in the community. Children feel safe and loved by the dedicated members of the school's staff!

After volunteering at Dunaire Elementary, I quickly noticed that with all of the normal activity of a typical school, whether the students learn, lead, follow, show positive or negative academic/ or social skills or not...at some point the PARENTS must be academically involved with their students. Sure we can speak about the Principal, Teachers, Counselors and Administrative personnel etc. but we must understand that the foundation of learning begins at the home. If a system can be developed, that would be conducive to the parents (via time & commitment) I think that better test scores can be produced. Trying a different style of learning can be fun and fulfilling but we must be willing to take that small step on faith.

This has to be the worst school in DeKalb County. I have been through hell and back with this school. The staff is unprofessional, impatient and honestly should not be teaching at all. The principal whose new to the school is another one. I honestly think she is there for the check. She knows nothing and has no idea what is going on with her staff and students. The assistant principal hands out suspension left and right with out any alternative disciplinary actions. My son has been suspended 9 time from the mth of Sept to Oct 2014, and he is a first grader.... this is very questionable. . My son has not had any type of homework for the past 3 mths. When asking the teacher her only response is that the copy machine is broken.. Your child education is very important and frankly the staff at this school cares nothing about it. The classroom size is extremely large with one teacher for 30 kids. I have decided not to participate with any actives in this school, any fundraising, they will not get a dime from me. Dunaire Elm, Worst school ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I rate you a 1

I am so fed up with this school and the teachers. If you choose this school please be very observant of how your child I'd looked after.

I think this is the lowest school in DeKalb county. I can tell that they don't get a lot of funding. Not all, but most of the staff have no clue how to talk to the students! They are very unorganized, have no structure/system in place. The principal is VERY nonchalant, and that's the wrong attitude to have with the kind of students that are at that school. The teachers are not very parent friendly despite what they say. They will get smart with you in a minute! Bullying is very wide spread because SOME of the teachers don't care. The kids are horrible, wild! There ISN'T alot of parental involvement! Although this is just my opinion, I wish someone would have told me this information. You have been warned!

Praise to Dunaire Elementary School. In the midst of turmoil, I am so pleased to see the focus on our youth. I attended Family Fun Night and the Living Museum for Black History Month and enjoyed it immensely. Thanks for keeping your eyes and hearts on our future and their education.

Great school, great teachers, with more parental involvement, this could be an even more wonderful school.

Dunaire has made A.Y.P. several years in a row. The teachers are loving and skilled to deal with one of the most diverse population in the Dekalb county school system. Parental involvement is great and the school is going in the right direction with one of the best counselors in the state of Georgia Ms. Gatewood and the student support specialist Mr. Brown. I think the best 5th grade math teacher in the state of Georgia is at Dunaire our Teacher of the Year Ms. Thurman. Math scores continue to meet or exceed under her masterful teaching.
