As an experienced teacher, I want to work in an environment where students come first. At Somis, due to their commitment to small class sizes and individualized instruction, I have time to address their needs and get to know them and their families. At a large middle school, it's easier for students to get lost or go unrecognized, but in our setting, I spend an enormous amount of time with students and support them in every way possible. My class is always open, and I have parents that stop by, email, or call on a regular basis. We create a partnership that maximizes their success and sends them on a path to success in high school and beyond. I love Somis and I love my Somis students! We are a family, and many of my former students still come to visit when they can.

I am excited about all the new STEAM curriculum additions. I think this is going to be great for our kids. The school already has a good API - but I think it is more important to have great curriculum and engaged caring teachers. 5 stars!

Innovating Where We Are, Doing What We Know: Somis teachers are pioneering new hands-on instructional programs themed in agriculture that spark children s interests in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM), with a vision for Somis as a STEAM academy with focus on agriculture and manufacturing. The district is working to create an optimal learning environment a new campus, that re-imagines where children learn, that links lessons to life through flexible working spaces, modern labs and facilities that allow children to explore, experiment and experience with all their senses. Our School as the Heart of Our Community: Somis School has been the hub of our community for 94 years, just as its founding forefathers had envisioned. We share the vision of our founders. The Somis Union School District Trustees and I invite you to visit our school, see it with fresh eyes as an innovative, inspiring place of learning and help us build a campus that supports educational excellence into next 100 years.

Wonderful school! The staff, both faculty and administrative, are fantastic. They have very small class sizes so your child gets personalized attention. There's no GATE program, but if your child needs extra challenging, the teachers can customize things for them. All grades have music class, PE in second grade and up, and field trips; all the things we had when we were kids and that are fading into history at some schools, it seems. All in all, it's an excellent school!

Hello, We moved to Somis recently, and I wasn't very happy about the school once I read the reviews so I desided I want to move my kids to camarillo schools, I met with principle she was very knowledgable, educated, I felt the excitement in her when she talked about the changes she and her staff have done for the last two years. I feel very good having my kids there. They are not just a number . I wish all the very best and we will continue to work as a team.
