My daughter is in first grade at Tilden and she absolutely loves it - she is thriving there because of the smaller class sizes, specialised and individual needs based focus from the incredible teachers, and the community. Oh the Tilden family is special! All the grades play together, the parents of all grades know each other and help each other on a daily basis. Tilden kids are widely known and recognised in middle and high schools around because of the kindness and empathy that is fostered here. My daughter was an early reader and math doer, and the teachers meet the kids where they are and fit the curriculum to the student, not the other way around. The traditional epic Halloween carnival every year is a thing to behold - the kids look forward to it for weeks and talk about it for weeks after. There may be no playground (yet, watch this space) but the school has been so resourceful in having lots of mobile games and outdoor toys that give the kids the next best thing. They also have a fantastic after school enrichment which my daughter is thriving in (giving her freedom to play and have fun after the rules of school during the day). I can’t say enough good things about Tilden - if you send your child here you won’t regret it.

My son has been at Tilden for two years (Kindergarten and 1st Grade). The teachers and support staff are all amazing. The focus on not only academics, but social-emotional learning sets this school above the rest in West Seattle. My son LOVES going to school. The small class sizes allow he and the other students to get far more attention from the teachers than at other schools. If you're looking for a private Elementary school in West Seattle, this is it.

My daughter is in Kindergarten there and she’s had a wonderful experience. The teachers are amazing, the kids are friendly and hilarious, and the parents have chosen the school for its focus on kindness, community, and arts/music/science.An unexpected but welcome bonus is the other parents are super committed to the school and we’ve made some wonderful new friends. We agonized last year about which school to choose and we are so happy we chose Tilden.

We LOVE Tilden! We have a current 2nd grader and one child who went to Tilden from K onward, and is now in middle school. Tilden prepared him so well! The writing skills they instill in all kids is unparalleled. The math foundation is so solid! My son tested a grade higher going into middle school, and is thriving. I attribute much of his success in math to the math teacher, Sue. The students learn to type proficiently in 3rd grade and it is a skill they take with them for life. Tilden also raises kids that are good people and kind. The entire Tilden community is an extended family. The tuition is so low because the school doesn't market or advertise and there is no fundraising! Parental involvement is voluntary to help with story writing and participate in the Halloween Carnival and Field Day. Such an amazing school!!!
