We’ve loved our time at FPE. Great caring teachers and strong academics.

My child was hesitant about leaving her previous school to come to Fairmount, our neighborhood school, but she has been very pleased with the teachers and staff. They have always been pleasant and helpful. The communication from staff to parents is excellent. We are glad we moved our child to Fairmount Park!

I'm writing this to counter the person who posted about the condescending attitude towards non-white families. We are a non-white family and have never once felt unwelcome or condescending feelings from any of the staff, ever. We are also not in the APP program (yet, maybe someday). We love this school and feel like the staff really listens to parents and cares about our student. So glad to be part of the Fairmount Park family. A+++ would attend again.

We love Fairmount Elementary! Wonderful staff, teachers, students and family community. Our child started in K in 2014 when they reopened and we have NO regrets about our decision. He is thriving. We appreciate the principal's experience and knowledge. She is not warm and fuzzy, but she gets amp;@! done!! Teachers are amazing. We love our school.

I regret having sent my daughter here. With an exception or two, the staff is cold and unfriendly. This place is seriously uptight. Had I known how weird this place is, I would have turned down the APP program. It just hasn't been worth it. The kids have no time to socialize and the staff seems interested only in churning out good standardized test scores. My daughter has NOT thrived at Fairmount.

We've been at this school since it reopened in 2014 with an amazing principal and staff. The principal is highly involved (and strict); she emphasizes hard work and character (along with reading and math, of course) for all children. As a former math teacher, she has chosen a different (better) math curriculum than the district. I have 2 kids there with another coming. My daughter always carries a book to read with her because the principal always checks that students have a book with them. She's also a strong believer in the arts for young kids, and all kids get music and art once/week each as well as PE twice weekly. Like all schools in West Seattle, it's at/over capacity, and it sounds like they will have to decrease the spaces for the HCC program to allow for capacity with all the new WS housing being built. We are grateful to be at this school.

This school was torn down and rebuilt in 2014 with a beautiful new campus and an amazing staff. please remove (or disregard) the reviews prior to 2014- they're not about the current school. The principal was super selective about the staff she hired and has done an amazing job- the staff have a great heart and give great attention to families and kids. As a bonus, the school is now the official West Seattle site for advanced learners- the Spectrum and App program.

How often do you update this page?? This school was closed for about 7 years and just reopened Fall of '14. This is now a fantastic school, with highly impressive and dedicated staff and administrators. Please update this description. The reviews you have are for a school that no longer exists.
