We moved our son to Tilden midyear since he had lost interest in at his previous school. At Tilden he's challenged, feels respected by the teachers and is now thriving. He comes home from school and tells us all about what he's learned. It's so exciting! As a parent we also appreciate the additional social emotional aspect of the school and the way kids learn to collaborate, especially when coming up with rules on the playground. They are quite imaginative. If we had the choice again, we would have moved our son to Tilden much earlier.

My child transferred to Tilden last year, and I am beyond thrilled with the results. The teachers at Tilden transformed my child's attitude about school. He went from being a child who did not want to go to school to one who looks forward to it every morning. I cannot thank the staff at Tilden enough for this metamorphosis. It has allowed my child to grow academically and socially at a rate that is truly astounding.

Tilden is exactly what our son needed in an elementary school. The focus on kindness and social-emotional learning has been fundamental in his ability to make solid friendships, feel accepted, and be himself. Tilden's curriculum allows our son to be challenged in areas where he excels and confidently learn in all subjects. He loves going to school! The Tilden parent community is wonderful and we feel very grateful for Tilden teachers and the magic that they bring to our son's education.

To echo what many parents have already said here - We consider ourselves lucky to be part of the Tilden community. The emotional, social and academic development is so rewarding to watch as a parent. My son is advanced in reading and we were afraid he might get lost a bit in a larger setting - and Tilden has answered every question, concern we had and more. Would recommend 100% of the time.

We feel incredibly blessed to have found Tilden. We want our child to have rigorous academics coupled with cultivation of empathy and social-emotional learning. Tilden excels on both fronts. It starts with the amazing teachers and administrators. There is a palpable feeling of love and care that emanates from them to the students (and back!). In her two years at Tilden, our daughter has received deeply thoughtful and personalized instruction from her teachers that keeps her challenged and excited to learn. This has been partnered with a continued emphasis on building social skills: active listening, conflict resolution, and emotional awareness. We have heard that admissions officers at Seattle private schools regard Tilden graduates as immediate yeses and believe this more every day as we see the kind, caring, poised, and intelligent leader our daughter is growing into. This is indeed a special place and one we feel very privileged to be a part of.

Our son started Tilden as a kindergartner in 2021. We could not be happier. Tilden offers a unique education with a large focus on Social Emotional Learning and Kindness. Their academic program is one that targets each child where they are at rather than teaching to the average of a classroom. The small class sizes and child:teacher ratio is unparalleled. In kindergarten, my son had a class of 8 with 1 teacher and an aid. In first grade, he is enjoying a 10 student classroom with 1 teacher and an aid. Academically, my son is thriving and is able to have a very personalized curriculum that meets his needs and challenges him. The classes often work together, and this further positively challenges him in different ways, allowing him to grow socially as well. This intimate, sweet little school fosters an incredible stewardship of one another among the students and he is truly KNOWN by each member of the faculty. I had many reservations about choosing private school, as both my parents were public school teachers; however, I had concerns with the way COVID was handled by our district so we decided to give Tilden a shot. The parents and community at this school are genuine, grounded, kind, and supportive of one another. I can not recommend this hidden gem in West Seattle enough!

We've been very happy with our child's experience in 1st grade at Tilden. Who knew he was such a creative writer! The small class sizes, dedicated teachers, and involved parents make this a wonderful academic and social environment.

Tilden is a hidden gem! I have a first grader and third grader currently enrolled and it truly is a special school. Starting in kindergarten and continuing through fifth grade, the kids learn how to hone their writing skills, learning how to be story tellers through their all-school weekly story writing. They learn about music, art, history science, math and beyond in a fun and engaging way. They are thoughtfully taught by incredibly patient and kind teachers who care about the kids' social-emotional well-being as well as their success in the classroom. The small class size ensures that every child is heard. Every day my kids are excited to go to school! Above all there is a culture of kindness that permeates the school, reaching every kid and teacher. I feel so lucky to have found a place where my kids are thriving and a welcoming loving community of parents, students and teachers.

We have a first grader at Tilden and are super happy. The academics is great, but the thing that really sets Tilden apart is the focus on kindness and social emotional learning. The teachers care soooo much. They do all of this and are much more affordable than the other private schools in West Seattle. Setup a tour, you'll love it.

We love Tilden School in West Seattle. The teachers have been wonderful to work with, and our son is very happy there. The teachers personally read with him every day. We feel like he's getting a lot of one on one attention.

We couldn't BR any happier than we are with Tilden as a school for our two boys. Tilden has brought out the best in our kids and has turned them into engaged learners. What an incredible school and community. The best education value in the city!

It's not an exaggeration to say we love Tilden. Academics are the primary focus, and with the spectacularly low student teacher ratio every student is understood and challenged according to their individual rate of progress. Music, art, Spanish, PE and other disciplines are woven into the core day many times a week. The teachers are incredibly talented, the leadership is stellar, and the entire school is thoughtfully organized. But the best part of Tilden's program may be the social learning that happens at recess. There are always several teachers on hand to guide students in play and social development, issue resolution and confidence building. Well worth the investment.
