We moved my son to Hope Lutheran after he suffered through a year of online learning during the pandemic. He was not in a good state. Being isolated was highly stressful for him. I was worried about him. His best friend had moved to Hope. I knew from him that his their grade's class was not full to capacity and he would probably get more teacher attention (there is 1 class per grade). After 3 years, it's not only like the pandemic experience never happened -- he is doing better than before the pandemic. I am SO happy we took a chance on this private school. We had not budgeted for such a move, but the value for the money is outstanding. The student-teacher ratio is something you will never get at public school. My son is seen, heard, known, and loved. I personally care about that more than academics, but their academics are excellent as well. Most of the teachers seem to have master's degrees as well as tons of experience. They radiate joy, warmth, purpose, and sincerity. There are no burnouts here.On the last day of 5th grade, may son was about to get in my car but went back and told his teacher Ms. Robertson, "You're the nicest teacher I have ever had!" I think I shed a tear.I am a big believer in small schools. Whatever opportunities may be missed are more than made up for in the environment of increased adult contact and friendship that is made possible. That is what I am paying for and it is well worth it.I know non-religious families may hesitate to place their child in a religious school. We are not a religious family and most of the families there aren't religious. They have a class called Faith and they have chapel once a week. They learn about other religions too. I believe this rounds out his education wonderfully and gives him an enhanced perspective on the world, and on history.Middle School: They have just purchased and remodeled the old Seattle Lutheran High School building, and middle school will move there starting the 2024-2025 school year. This is a fantastic opportunity to place your child in an excellent facility with all the same benefits of the small school environment. I only wish Hope offered high school as well!

I do not recommend this school at all. The teachers are always right and the students' opinion is never valid. Even if you voice your opinion, the school will not allow you to continue there. The teachers and principle continue to make favourites, they allow them to call down to the office any time that they like, pull them out of class for no real reason, and let them do things with younger grades. If you are a child of colour then you are automatically considered a problem child. This school is focused on faith(Which is not a bad thing), but they do not consider that not everything has to revolve around it and don't consider that the lives of the children matter more. The teachers don't own up to their own actions, they say the opposite thing that they originally said before, then making it the child's fault. The school wastes money, they have so many fundraisers but spends it on painting a lion in the gym. The teachers are forced to work really late; they stay way after hours to finish their lesson plans.

After a tumultuous 1.5 pandemic years, my boys needed some solid, in-person, truth-filled learning. And they got it at Hope. Though many of the kids have been there since pre-K, my 6th and 8th graders were welcomed. The gaps left by virtual learning were quickly filled and, with the help of gifted and caring teachers, they both realized they were better at math than they previously thought. My youngest has a visual disability (though he's so capable most people wouldn't know) and the Hope admin did whatever they could to ensure he'd thrive- which he did. Very bummed that my 8th grader only got one year there, but my 6th grader doesn't want to be anywhere else for Middle School.

My child has attended the preschool program and is now finishing his elementary year here before middle school. We enjoy this school, my son likes attending here and has excelled in many areas, math, spelling, learning cursive while also having lots of creative learning time. The school has involved season sports programs and clubs. The staff at the school are friendly and show a lot of care for the kids and the school community. The school staff were there for families during challenging times and during covid. The classrooms accommodated families in the best ways they could, for example the classroom would allow you to attend either online or in person during the covid year. I do not know any other elementary school that offered this. Most of the students were safely able to attend during the year while many schools went fully remote. They truly go above and beyond for the kids. Children receive quality academics and spiritual support for their development which was helpful for my child's well being during difficult times in the world. He has had amazing teachers here each year while at this school. The staff and the principal due a wonderful job here, are quick to answer any questions and assist. They greet the children in the morning daily outside of the school too! The kinda charm you just don't get in the city nowadays. The school offers small class sizes which works well for my child who can get pretty side tracked in larger learning settings. The classrooms offer flexibility to accommodate various learning abilities. Each year starting in preschool they have the children speak, perform and participate in front of a large school group during chapel for events as a class which develops confidence and public speaking skills early on. This is something I never developed or participated in at school, not having experience until college years so my anxiety with public speaking was pretty severe. They do a nice job encouraging the children. The classroom also facilitates independence of the students as they get older, being responsible for yourself and your own work, taking accountability, communicating, self planning your to dos, developing self confidence while feeling good about asking questions or getting extra help when needed. The kids have fun too, even in fifth grade they are not too old to bring a stuffy on Friday, have game time, ect. The school offers family engagement and encourages volunteering.

What a wonderful community of supportive and caring teachers and staff. During a year full of uncertainty for families and children (COVID), this community was resilient, reliable, and provided something we could rely on for stability and support. We've become friends with the families in our son's class and have been able to organize play dates (outdoors) outside of the classroom. We feel so blessed to be part of Hope.

Hope is a fantastic school and community. From the families that pitch in where needed, to the teachers that go above and beyond to the leadership that listens to parents and teachers alike to create the best learning environment. After our first year at Hope we are very impressed at the ways they put the students first to ensure they can learn best.

My daughter is just finishing Kindergarten, her first year at Hope Lutheran. We couldn't be happier with the school. She has flourished there, and I have watched her classmates flourish as well. Even students who were struggling at the beginning of the year have made remarkable improvements. The students in the upper grade levels are incredibly compassionate and considerate - I think it is a demonstration of the culture which is taught at this school.

My son is almost done with a year here. What a wonderful school. Small class and entire school, it feels like a family. Caring staff. My sons next year teacher already knows his name and greets him when she sees him. His teacher now is loving, caring and has creative ways to create a well rounded learning environment. My son blooms here because of so much love and thoughtfulness at this school. Seriously it's a dream come to not to have any complaints. The high quality of academics here are worth every penny. Christian principals are modeled regularly in a down to earth manner. I feel at ease when my son is dropped off here.

My son began attending Hope two years ago in 6th grade. He has a vision disability, and despite the best efforts of his prior public school, my son could never keep up with his peers in any way, educational, emotional, or social. The decision to send him to Hope has been life-changing. The staff and students of Hope are the most wonderful and caring people we have ever met, and the education and extra-curricular activities are top-notch. My son is never without help if he needs it. He has made educational leaps, amazing friends, and is able to participate in clubs and athletics. Thanks to Hope, my child is having a peaceful and happy school experience. We are so thankful.

Hope Lutheran Seattle is one of those rare gems that provide not only a great education, but a great place to grow socially and spiritually. The teachers at Hope truly love their jobs and love their students! And this starts at the top with a warm-hearted, visionary principal who leads by example. Upon arriving in the morning, she is always outside greeting everyone and we all feel like we are coming home for the day. The class sizes are small; individual attention is therefore a given and parent involvement is encouraged and appreciated. Love for God permeates the school and our children are taught the values of living a Christian life, loving and serving Jesus - what a blessing! I thank the good Lord everyday for Hope - for the school, church and ministries - we feel totally blessed to be a part of the Hope family!

Hope Lutheran is a family! We were initially drawn here for the academics - despite their small class size they seem to cater to every child's needs. But we quickly learned that they genuinely care for each other! From the principal to every teacher to every staff member, their positive attitude is infectious for both children and parents. Our commute is 45 minutes, passing many schools along the way, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

We transferred to hope from Lafayette and could not be more happy. I've seen our kids excel in such a short period of time. I would compare the education to the spectrum program at Lafayette but in a small school environment. Everyone is so encouraging and the parent involvement is amazing . I'v seen no bulling and even shy kids (one of ours) is able to speak in front of large groups now. The lower grades are becoming impacted but I would encourage parents to check out the program.

Attended this school in the 70's and 80's and it was not diverse as par the course now. Racial discrimination was rampant, but the education was superb. Being called the N word and other disparaging names was weekly. Don't expect staff to assist in those maners. Academics A+, racial equality F.

Hope is a fantastic school. Both our boys attend and we couldn't be happier with the choice we made. The class sizes are small and each child receives a great amount of attention for the teachers. They do a great job adjusting their approach for different learning styles so each child can be successful. It is truly a great program to enroll your child in. We are not very religious, but our family has been embraced by the Hope community and families regardless of beliefs. This place is top notch and we've met some amazing people here.

Hope Lutheran is awesome school. I am very happy my child goes there. She is in the preschool class and is so happy to go to school. I love the feeling of being part of a family. All the staff is friendly and very caring. I love the fact they take the time to get to know you and your child. I also love the smaller class size and that lily gets one on one time with her teacher.

Hope Lutheran is an amazing place. Its not just a school, its a community of caring people who have a great love of learning. All of the staff are focused on helping each child obtaining and surpassing their potential. Parents are extremely involved and strive to make Hope a better place for all. The small class size allows teachers time to focus on individual students and allows for each student to grow. Older students are encouraged to work with younger children, providing older students with leadership experience and younger students with a connection to the big kids. I am always amazed that both of my boys seem to know everyone in the school, I didn't even know everyone in my grade at my elementary school, and certainly not in Junior High. We started with pre-school and were so happy with the program that we stayed with the school. We are happy with our decision and would make the same decision if we had to do it all over again.

My 5th grade son just transferred to Hope Lutheran after being in a local public school. We had decided to make a change since he was experiencing bullying issues and academically just seemed to be struggling. Both the faculty and the students embraced him. The communication from his teacher has been amazing and although I am no expert, the academic program seems to be hands above what he has been receiving in the public school system. I look forward to being a part of this school community for the next several years.

I have 3 children at this great school! It is not just a school, but an amazing, nurturing community. People genuinely care about each other. My kids get a ton of individual attention from their innovative teachers. They come home happy, with an excitement about learning! They are thriving academically. They are well rounded children, learning, Spanish, Music, Art, and the joy of sports and physical activity. Most importantly, they learn empathy, and the great rewards that can come from serving others. We love our school!
