I have 2 kids, one who is currently enrolled one who has finished. Both in IEPs. For the older one the time in this school was pretty terrible, their point person for their IEP was atrocious, didn’t listen at all to what my sons needs were and just kept presuming, wrongly, that she knew what he needed to be successful. Completely incapable of taking on new information and just stuck in what she believed to be true. He is doing a lot better now with a more competent support system in place. My younger son is doing better here, the person my older had has moved on to a district position in special ed, go figure! The point he has is a lot more competent. But there is still a huge disconnect in the school on how to support a child that is different and why overloading kids with excessive homework as they do isn’t helping them at all. It’s making school a bad experience and not helping them learn. Special ed support is lacking a lot and kids can get lost in this large middle school format.

Miwok middle is said to be one of the best schools in the city but I would not say that at all. I am overwhelmed by everything they have us doing. All of my teachers will assign work and homework like they are the only teacher I have, making it hard to balance everything and still have a good sleep schedule. PE is overworking and you will not see any other school doing stuff like that, elementary, middle, or high school. Everything about Miwok makes me dread coming to school and just thinking about having to go to school on break or during the weekend makes me anxious.

This School is awesome in everything! Where dreams are nurtured and futures are shaped.

The school is subpar at best. There are rats and cockroaches (and other disgusting bugs) within the locker room. The PE teachers do not care about the health of students; they make them lie on the filthy gym floor everyday, and they never clean them. Some of the teachers here are great, but the other teachers can be somewhat of a martinet, being very critical, making students cry. I see students in the cafeteria running around like monkeys, chasing each other and putting one another in garbage cans, with no consequences. The curriculum is not challenging, as for the whole school year I have spent less than 8 hours total on homework. If you want your to have a good middle experience, do NOT send your child here.

We are so fortunate to have our 8th grader attending Sutter Middle School. While we anticipated that a school of this size would be challenged to give us the type of personal attention we would hope for our student, we have been delighted to find that the teachers and administration are so amazingly accessible and responsive. The teachers at this school are uniquely invested in the success of their students and our student has responded appropriately with solid engagement in his studies. As a family, we have appreciated excellent communication by way of Infinite Campus grade updates as well as frequent email updates from teachers. Our 8th grader attributes his excellent grades and overall success to the high expectations of his teachers and the high quality social and learning environment encouraged by the administration.

I give it a 5 only because vice principal is the best loving person there. I wish they would make her the principal. I feel sad at this school, like everyone is afraid to talk to me, teachers, know the principal rolls his eyes at me. All because my dad defended me. But Ms. Martin the vice principal she's always smiling at me she doesn't care she still makes me feel welcomed, but other people are mean, teacher kick me out of class, the principal points at me, when I'm with my friends. But I won't give up I show them I'm strong and this is not going to hurt me. I love this school, and I'm not leaving because some teachers or principal don't like me.

Cockroaches, dead rats. Who knows what is found in the food, they haven't took care of this for 2 years. Teachers SOME are terrible bullying kids making them cry. Staff are rude, principal is awful. Yesterday I noticed the principal being very rude to a mother I heard the entire conversation I was behind the mothers car, I will be speaking to her today.

School staff members need to be shining examples of the behavior they hope to see in their students," -Treat all students with patience and respect. Avoid sarcasm. Expect the best, not the worst, from students. Encourage students to ask questions when they don't understand. Vice principal should be the principal. They changed a event from family to kids only because a specific parent was going that the school dislikes. I don't like this school. I'm finding out more information as it is provided to me and will keep this site or other sites posted.

As a Sutter parent I just wanted to say that Principal Rodriguez is already impressive on the first day of school. After 6PM he is still instantly responding to email and fixing issues that Rocklin School were always rediculously beauracratic about. +1 Sutter! Jeremiah H.

Sutter has so many students, I feared my daughter might get lost in the shuffle. But she really wanted to go here, because her friends were going. We've been very pleased with her academic success. There are lots of options of things to try (she was thrilled with what she learned in woodshop!). The principal and vice principal are easy to contact and concerned about the quality of the school. Teachers are concerned and easy to talk to, as well as highly competent. Parent involvement is high. In fact, every parent of a former student that I talked to was very positive in their reviews. We're looking forward to another great year.

Sutter Middle School located in Sacramento is a great school for kids with big brains. Socially the school is good and my son enjoyed it completely. My daughter is currently attending and she loves it too. I just wish they could have kept the Spanish teacher... from what I hear he was good.

I am a seventh grader too and I do think many of the students aren't too nice. But the teachers there are so helpful and dedicated to their job. I truly believe they want their students to succeed. I am in the SAS honor classes which has great teachers and some awesome students. There are bullies in every school, and Sutter is no exception to that. But I've found some genuine people there who want me to do my best all year long at Sutter.

This school isn't any better or worse than Mitchell Middle School. We put our daughter in this school after a rough sixth grade at Mitchell, she did worse than at Mitchell for 7th grade. We then switched back to Mitchell. I believe that the school isn't the problem, it's the student. If the student wants to succeed, it will happen anywhere. There isn't anything special about Sutter that doesn't happen at Mitchell.

I am a seventh grader and I just started here at Sutter. I love that it so BIG. That doesn't necessarily mean everyone on is nice, but if someone is mean you report it and find some new friends. I came from a small elementary school where there was BULLYING. All of the kids from there went to Sutter but I have no classes with them and found so many other great friends. Everyday i recognize someone that I hadn't seen for a really long time. (from soccer, volleyball, baseball, swimming, ect.) Now for academics. I love all of my teachers. I am in G.A.T.E. and I am challenged a majority of the time. I have woodshop for my elective and it is so much FUN! I am also excited to TA (teacher assistant) next year. My class teachers asked for supply donations that ranged from $3-$20 but understood if you couldn't afford it. Also Mr. Rodriguez and Mrs. Tahara-Martin are a little intimidating, but I have become great friends with both of them. My mom, dad, and I are in PTSO (parent teacher student association.) My brother, who is an eight grader goes here, too and he loves it. Sutter has lot of SPIRIT and SMARTS. Also at lunch there is music and it's a nice break after four periods. GO MINERS!
