My child just graduated from Merryhill (MH) this past June. They attended K through 8th grade. Enrolling at MH was, without exception, the best decision we made. From day 1, our child was supported. When he went through some emotional struggles, he met with the counselor for support. The field trips are wonderful and very enriching - he loved all of the overnights that began in 4th grade (SF Aquarium, Submarine overnight, Gold Country, Washington DC, Ashland Oregon for theater, Disneyland, and so much more). The COVID response was exceptional - providing in-person school so that the students did not fall behind. My kid is prepared for high school and excited about learning. Never did I think homework was excessive (in fact, most years, my son finished homework at school and rarely brought any home). Having homework support at school was great - especially when he needed more support in mathematics. During K-5th grade there was terrific afterschool programming and clubs - my son tried yoga, science club, chess club, various sports, and more. I encourage any parent reading this to visit the school. The campus population is very diverse, which is a huge plus for us. It made for a very enriching K-8 experience. Thank you.

Our child has been a part of Merryhill schools for about 7 years. This is his first school year at Merryhill Midtown. He had some difficulty adjusting to the new school, new students, and new teachers/staff (which was expected). Merryhill Midtown teachers and staff have been amazing over the past year with helping him/us feel welcome and helping him adjust. Merryhill Midtown is academically challenging, and they have high expectations of their students, but they are there to support and help them. Over the past year we have seen our child thrive. He has grown academically, emotionally, and socially. Communication with teachers and staff have been great.

I worked here for 8 months as the 1st grade assistant teacher and the kinder enrichment program leader. My experience was nothing but enjoyable as the staff and management were very kind, supportive, respectful, and professional. Materials were plentiful for teachers and the school would order anything else needed for the class. There was lots of room for growth/promotion within the school for myself and others. Management is flexible with time off, offers good benefits, and offers plenty of support and encouragement.

The teachers have way too much power. They try to disguise themselves as very student driven. They have a student council. They make it sound like you can make school laws on the student council to make the school a better place. In the campaign the people running for office will often make promises about how they would change the school. If they win, the school never lets them fulfill their promise. All they can really do is decorate and plan dances and use the microphone in the morning announcements. And I must point out these students paid money for materials needed to run for president. Also, the safety amount is a little excessive. If someone gets hurt playing a game they take away the game. They did it for a game called “ga-ga ball.” When the students play the game they understand it can be dangerous and they are aware of the risks before they start the game. The homework is a little too much. Sometimes I can’t complete my homework because of sports and family gatherings. It is a bit my fault for not being able to keep track of things. I don’t have much to say about the homework but it could be less. The school does do well on helping me learn. They offer coding classes which I think all schools should have. They make learning engaging for the class by using games like kahoot.it to make us want to learn the material. I have learned a lot for on the school. The social emotional support is good. Every morning (at least for middle school) we have SEL(social emotional learning). It teaches us how to not be a dirtbag.

My family loves this school! The teachers are amazing, administration is approachable and communicates effectively, and my child never wants to leave at the end of the day. There was some staff turnover early this year but the school seems better off. Since the previous principal left, we've noticed an increase in communication, more family events, and better community feel all around - I've heard from other families who feel the same. We couldn't be happier with our choice of school, and recommend Merryhill to anyone that asks!

Terribly polarized school. Don’t waste your money here as they are already subsidized by the state. Glorified public school with high tuition and expensive uniforms.

We are so happy we made the switch to Merryhill. Our kids thrive here and learn amazing things. My 2nd grader recognized Madam C.J. Walker when I was watching Netflix's Self Made. My 5th grader compared the tented flu shot clinic at Kaiser to a Native American longhouse. Our kids absolutelylove the curriculum at Merryhill because it's engaging. We love the curriculum at Merryhill because they are setting the foundation to be contributing adults. We highly recommend this school.

It is and forever will be the worst experience in dealing with a school. Look elsewhere if you want a good education for your child.

I was on the fence when deciding where to send my son. He was at Brookfield for TK and it was a lousy experience. I am so glad he is now attending MH Midtown. My first impressions when I started exploring...administration is knowledgable and professional, the campus is very secure and there are many resources and amenities available to supplement my child's education. Staff is also great and they pay attention. I was surprised and impressed about the number of people who know my son's name, among all the students. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. When it comes to academics, it is all about parent involvement. As many are aware, private schools have the advantage of being selective about its student population, meaning they qualify and admit a higher average, so they can teach to that level. Everything past this point, is about how much you work with your child one on one and support their learning. Believe me, any school that touts an accelerated curriculum is going to overload your kids with homework and force you, the parent to be a part time teacher during your evening family time. There's nothing wrong with that, but let's call it what it is. Don't let the idea of an advanced curriculum instill insecurities in your psyche. At Merryhill, my child has a challenging curriculum and I plan on being involved and working with him at home, but that will be my choice. I'm sure I'll be happy to take a break every now and again, when my child is overwhelmed, without any judgement. You'll be glad to have chosen Merryhill Midtown. It's a positive and challenging environment.

We really wanted to love this school because there are many positives: friendly families, diverse student population, small class sizes, K-8, but we had a horrible experience there. We found many of the teachers to be inexperienced or substandard, although there are a few exceptions and some are truly exceptional. We transferred to a public school and now that we have a point of reference, cannot believe the level of incompetence that exists at the administrative level at Merryhill Midtown.

There were many positives: nice families, K-8, beautiful building, and diversity. But we found issues ranging from minor to disturbing. After only one year of Merryhill Midtown I saw my child change from being highly positive and energetic to becoming anxious, melancholic, and withdrawn. Our child was blamed, so we transferred to a school where they could do an IEP to identify problems. While my child was being tested, we founf that there was chronic, pervasive, physical and emotional bullying taking place without any effective action taken. The IEP uncovered no significant issues. It's taken many months but since he has been removed from the situation, my kid is finally back to normal.

Our daughter is thriving at Merryhill Midtown. We had concerns about her starting at a brand new school this year but it's been a smooth transition thanks to the hardworking teachers and staff. The Merryhill schools have a standard curriculum that is engaging and challenging. Frequent progress reports, interesting and frequent field trips, decent hot lunches, fun after school activities, close supervision, respect for children, and a beautiful building make for a wonderful school.
