My daughter loved this school. The teachers were amazing and genuinely care about the kids. We recently moved back to Louisiana and will miss everyone we met. Thank You to all staff at Wamsley Elementary for being my child's favorite school!

The teachers go above and beyond for these kids. Being a low income school, Wamsley gets a bad rep but there are amazing teachers and staff doing amazing work everyday.

This is by far the worst school I have ever had to deal with. My son hated going to school each day because he was being bullied on a daily basis and no one would do anything about it. My husband and I were told that bullying was a part of the learning experience for kids and that our son needed to learn to deal with it himself! For the record, my son does not like to tattle. He keeps things to himself. My husband and I only found out something was happening because we noticed a pattern of behavior that was concerning to us. On one of the last days of the year my son came home crying and I could tell he had been crying for a while. He claimed that his teacher said he "shouldn't be so stupid" in front of the class. Never under any circumstances should a teacher call a student stupid or insinuate that a student is stupid in front of anyone!! It took two weeks of continuous sitting in the office to speak to the principal about the situation. When we finally spoke to her she said that the situation never happened and that kids lie sometimes. In this situation I had no reason to doubt my son's claim because I had to pry it out of him. I confronted the teacher about it and she admitted what she had said!! She claimed it was constructive criticism!!! The principal still refused to do anything about the situation that year. We moved my son to a new school and the next school year the teacher was gone. This is the worst school I have ever dealt with which makes me sad because a couple of teachers are close friends that are amazing teachers. The good ones are run out to make room for a nonexistent structure the new principal fails to provide to staff and students. Frustrated families are left to pick up the pieces of an ignorant principal and the chaos she creates.

Wamsley is a great place to work and a great place for students to learn. We truly care about the well-being and success of students. Teachers and staff are all committed to making Wamsley the best place for students to learn and grow. I couldn't be prouder to be a Wamsley Wildcat, and can't wait for everyone else to see what we see. The students here are worth it, and the teachers and staff are willing to do whatever it takes to provide our students with the best possible educational experience. We realize that we aren't perfect and strive to improve every day.

My daughter was not kept safe by the rules at Wamsley Elementary that teacher are supposed to follow. She made it off the bus with no note. Through a person volunteering at the school and all the other teachers outside helping children go home. She made it into an unapproved car with someone I did not put on my pick up forms. I called the school to inform them my child was not home when the bus was supposed to drop her off. When she was dropped off all the school had to say was "Thanks to your input we have made PROGRESS ON REVAMPING OUR BUS PICK UP PROCEDURES HERE AT WAMSLEY WLEMENTARY.WE HAVE WORKED WITH THE TRANSPORTAITION DEPARMENT AND THE WAMSLEY STAFF TO ENSURE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS ARE IN PLACE FOR THE SAFTEY OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS. It states in your rules you already have procedures in place to keep my child safe. I have lost all trust for this school to keep my child safe.

Wamsley is a fantastic school. There is a huge sense of family there. I love that everyone is so friendly and happy to be there. Everyone knows my name and everyone knows my kids. You don't get that in some of the other schools with higher enrollment. The class sizes are around 20 also which makes me feel like my kids get the attention they need and deserve and aren't getting lost in a crowd.

My children love going to school! The teachers are so fun and friendly. Our principal thinks of only how to better our children and the school. She works with the parents and always has an open door policy.

Wamsly Elementary When we first moved here 7 years ago I was concerned when I saw the low scores that the school had. As a parent I believe that if I want a school and student to succeed then I need to be involved. I started helping in my children's classroom and being involved in the pta. I noticed that the teachers and staff were amazing and gave more than 110 %. I couldn't be happier with the teachers. The low score are due to the students in the school that don't speak English, therefore taking a test written in English that you don't understand would be hard to do well on. As far as parent involvement, I think its a mixed of can't, or won't or don't want to. If you want a great experience then show up, help out . You will find that this school is always trying to improve for the better and are willing to listen to your concerns and help in anyway possible. I am glad that all of my 3 kids attended this school.

I have been sending my children to Wamsley for 3 years. I was told at the beginning of the first year that Wamsley was a bad school. In my experience, the only bad thing about the school is the lack of parent involvement or parents who "hear" it's a bad school without really taking a look at the entire districts percentages. It takes parents and teachers to make a school great. The teachers are wonderful and really love the children who attend. We gained a new principal this year who is fantastic. The parents of the students however, are not very involved in the students academics leading teachers to often have to spend more time with students who did not complete homework. I see this hindering the classroom from time to time. The school does many great things that other schools in the area do not, such as a Halloween Carnival, a Santa Shop, Spring Fling, and various community support events. My children enjoy the school and I feel like they are learning well beyond their grade levels. I will continue to send my children to this school because it is tight knit, everyone knows my family and cares for us. That is just as important to me as my childrens' grades.

Horrible!!! This school was a complete waste of time. It is said between parents in Rifle that Wamsley is bad.Shame on me for not listening. For god sakes my child was able to be picked up by whomever, and when I brought it up it was stated that it wasn't of a concern because they where sure children wouldnt get in car with anyone they don't know.WHAT!!!!! He just turned 5, and yes he would. I have walked up on rumors and gossip by staff about personal issues of the students and their family. Even teachers in school district prefer not dealing with the ignorant principal by going out of their way sending their children elsewhere.

Wamsley has recently gained a new principal who is a true PrinciPAL. She has come in with fresh eyes and ideas to help improve my childrens' educational experience. I have noticed a dramatic improvement in just the first quarter compared to last years testing and reading scores. I am excited to be a part of the family at Wamsley. The teachers are very friendly and know all of children by name, even when they were too young to attend. They answer any and all parent concerns or questions timely and thoroughly. I believe these teachers and staff truly care about my family. There are many safety measures that the school has taken to prevent any outsiders from gaining unauthorized access to the school, while still keeping an inviting tone for parents. Parents are encouraged to stop by anytime and have lunch or volunteer with their child's class. I believe in this school and where it is going.

The teachers and staff at Wamsley Elementary make learning fun! My child and I are greeted each day by smiles and my son's teacher is approachable and easy to talk to before and after school. The school has put in new security measures to be safe, but still inviting parents and community members in for lunch or special holiday activities. I was especially impressed by the large turn out at the recent Halloween Carnival. This school clearly has caring parents and staff that came together for a fun night that combined learning about the school with games and treats! My kindergarten son is excited to learn on his iPod the school sends home for homework assistance. Test scores are also improving in the last couple of years, which shows the dedication of the new principal and the teachers to give our children a motivating and successful education. The area I believe the school could improve is offering a more challenging curriculum for students that are ready for it. I feel that this is something that may come in time as test scores improve.
