Upon stumbling on this school, I was thrilled to finally find a supposed christian environment where my child could thrive and do well academically and socially. Things appeared good-hearted on the surface, but after a few weeks of my son being there, I found out how wrong I was to send him here. The teachers tortured my son mentally and socially. They were very very hard on him and punished him for every little thing he did. Eventually causing him to distance himself from everyone and become a shell of his former self. I wish that I could recomend this school for HIGH SCHOOLERS but I cannot. The elementary school is satisfactory but the highschool is a depressing and disheartening place to be. Everyone seems so hopeless at the school and very disatisfied with their job. No one seems like they genuinely want to be there. Most teachers hate their jobs or are too old to actually get anything done effectively. Please If you want your son or daughter to enjoy their highschool years and be prepped for what comes after highschool DO NOT SEND your child here.

I highly recommend Neuse Christian Academy. My children have thrived at this school both academically and spiritually. There is a wonderful balance between rigorous studies and a focus on helping each child grow in wisdom and faith. We have enjoyed the opportunities provided in sports and other extracurriculars. The teachers are caring and available. The administration is committed to excellence and accessible to students and parents. For these reasons and many more, I strongly recommend Neuse Christian Academy!

I have 2 students who are above average academically, and they thrive here.The teachers and administration really care about the students. I was surprised and impressed with how effectively they implemented virtual learning in March when the school building had to close down suddenly from the pandemic. We successfully finished the curriculum and did not fall behind, and they were so encouraging to students and parents. I could not rate the school any higher.

I have three kids attending NCA and it’s been a wonderful experience for them all. Their teachers are caring and loving. With the small class sizes they get the extra attention they need. My son has special needs and gets one on one supper in a kind, loving, Christ centered environment.

NCA is an amazing school. It has a family feel to it. The staff love the children and it shows. I recommend NCA to anyone looking for a school.

The school has a family feel, which was apparent from my first tour, during which the elementary principle knew and talked with every student we passed, regardless of age. She was personal with each one, asking about tests, sick family members, etc. Our son has been at NCA for almost 4 years, and our overall experience is excellent.

Everyone seems to be miserable and they take it out on the students. It is supposed to be a Christian school but no one acts like it. The facilities are old & falling apart. The heating & A/C don't work properly. The population at this school are very unhealthy and probably have the highest percentage of overweight students and teachers in the country. The food served in the cafeteria is disgusting. The discipline is over the top and they seem to hate boys. Teaching is basically "take out your chrome books and take notes." Teachers have no passion for teaching and there is little student engagement. Electives are a joke. They often don't have lessons planned and when the students are bored they get into trouble because they have nothing to do. There is no green space on the property and any outside time is in the back parking lot where they have to dodge cars. There is a real negative, evil spirit over this school & it shows in the attitudes of many of the teachers. In a bullying situation, ultimately they ended up blaming the victim. There is no PTA.

One of the things I like about NCA is that it really does have a family feel. Although my child's teacher is in her second year at NCA, many of them have been here for 10-20 years. I also like that my child's teacher is a graduate of Neuse. I think it says something about a school that its graduates want to come back and teach at their alma mater. It's great to see my son excited about learning. We plan to be a part of the Neuse family for a long time!

The middle and high school academics at Neuse Christian Academy (NCA) are average to above average. My children did extremely well academically without much effort. Our family sacrificed a more challenging curriculum for the small environment. We had issues with the administration and some teachers. Despite being fully aware of a disability with my child, the administration attributed some of my child's actions to a behavior issue which was not the case. NCA was not honest. Instead of working with us on a positive plan, they became frustrated and placed the entire blame on my child. The school's behavior was not Christian and was disappointing for a school who claims to be Christian. They failed to live up to its mission of supporting families. In addition many who work at the school are related, or are fellow church members. There are instances of mother, son, daughter, sister-in-law, youth group pastor from another church, etc. working at the school. One has to question the hiring practices and if the best people are employed. Also, with the quality of families and students attending NCA, there should be more students attending four year colleges after graduation. The college planning and advising need to be improved and overhauled.

We are very happy with our experience at NCA. The teachers are caring and provide Christian centered support and guidance. The academics appear to be carefully researched, planned, and delivered.

Wonderful school, atmosphere is clean and professional. Teachers appear to give un-divided attention to the students. Every year the school administer meets with parents to discuss the direction, vision for the school. She also discusses new things that were implemented. As a parent I get the impression they are really putting the overall family first. Which is good. If you have an issue or concern or need to meet with teacher or administration they have been very responsive and willing to listen and work with you. They do not yell at kids and when something is wrong they nicely/professional call the child to the side and explain the correct way to handle a situation if they did something wrong. Very well mannered kids. I immediately could tell a difference with my child after a month of her attending. As long as we are able we will do our best to keep her in a christian school environment and out of public school. Love/Manners/Respect/Education/Leaders and more are very important for us. Thank you NCA and keep striving to build/grow/and improve upon to be a successful school.

At Neuse Christian Academy, we are excited how God is changing lives in the classroom, the athletic fields/court, and on campus. Our Athletic Department is producing annually 16 different Middle School, JV, and Varsity athletic teams in 6 different sports (Baseball, Boys & Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, Golf, Boys & Girls Soccer, and Volleyball). Most of our Coaches have either played and/or coached at the collegiate level and were recruited by colleges in their respective sports. This brings a standard to our athletic department which separates us from our competition. At Neuse Christian Academy in 26 years of State Athletic Competitions, we have won 1 National Championship, 7 State Championships, and been to 18 Final Fours for all of our sports combined. Neuse Christian Academy has been producing College Scholarship Student-Athletes since 1991. All of these great achievements have been accomplished through God's Blessings and the Truth in Colossians 3:17 which states, "And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

I have had children at NCA for 3 years. We came out of the public schools because we wanted a Christian education to help our children gain a biblical worldview as well as reduce class sizes. I have had children in all grades from K-10th. The administrators, principals and teachers are dedicated to the children. The school provides an incredible family feel. The school has become an extended family to my children. There have been students that have left NCA only to come back within weeks because they missed their "family". I have been very happy with the academic rigor. My children are very smart, so this is very important. They are in honors classes and my highschool student is on a college prep curriculum. The school has recently added a marine biology class to the highschool curriculum which includes a relationship with UNC Wilmington for up close and personal study of the ocean. There are numerous AP classes to prepare for college. In sports the children are taught God first, family second, school third and academics fourth. The school has had very successful sports. I can't recommend the school highly enough! It is a blessing to our family.

We have been going here for going on our fourth year and we love NCA! Honestly after doing a lot of searching and visiting it was just the best fit for us, and hands down, it was the best value in a private school education. The only knock we have is that the school does not have a lacrosse program right now. My son would like to play basketball there, but they have been state champions for several years and it is an extremely competitive program. He is looking forward to the new marine biology program though as they have launched the only one in the state that will also let you get SCUBA certified and he loves sharks! Ha! The school has been through a tough time though (I guess five years ago now? Something like that...) and we were almost persuaded to go somewhere else at first, but the school brought on a new administrator and the school has really turned around. Matter of fact we almost didn't get back in this year because some of the classes are wait listing now due to the growth. Thankfully we did get back in, but I will never assume that I can wait till the last minute anymore!!!

I am in the process of moving to Raleigh from another state. My children have always attended good private Christian schools and I am looking for a great Christian school to continue their spiritual growth, but I have concerns after reading the different posts. I thought this was the forum to speak about ones experiences; it could be positive or negative ones. One should speak from their own perspective ONLY. All comments should be factual and welcomed. No one can speak of others experiences; only their own. Christians should act cautiously and not label and become judgmental as in the previous post. Judgmental post such as this is a real turn off to the prospective parent. It could appear that someone have something to gain from writing the post while lashing out and being defensive. One should be extremely cautious of these type posts if they want the school to be seen in the best positive light. And I might add that these type posts do not display good Christian behavior which is a major component of the school s belief.

Please think twice regarding sending your child to this school! On the surface, it appears the administration/teachers are spiritually guided and has the best interest of the children at heart until there are issues. Most have a superiority complex where they do not care to be questioned. My family had many issues with the school policies being made up as they went and inconsistencies of policies of the teachers across the board. The school would also make decisions in a vacuum without parental involvement. When most parents found out about these new decisions, it is too late to act. There was a lack of commo between the teachers and the parents. Mtgs with administration/teachers to resolve issues also caused problems for our child in the classroom. We had to dis-enroll our child in the middle of the school year to find relief. This is mean-spirited behavior and has nothing to do with God or what they say they are about. They say that they are a nurturing faculty that is dedicated to the development of well-rounded students in a Christian environment in which their students flourish. There are a huge contradiction in who they say they are and who they actually are!

This has been a wonderful school for our family. There is a great teacher to student ratio and the staff really cares for the children. The academics are also very good for a small school. Our oldest child was well prepared for college.
