The great schools score greatly underrates the quality of Durant Road Elementary School. Durant Road Elementary is located in a fairly affluent North Raleigh neighborhood, but due to how Wake County draws its base school boundaries, it is a Title I school. This is a good thing because it increases diversity at Durant Road Elementary and allows students to build bonds across socio-economic lines. The faculty and staff at Durant Road Elementary work hard to provide a learning environment that is safe and nurturing to all. Neighborhood students perform just as well or better on their test scores as their peers at less integrated nearby Wake County Schools. It seems like Great Schools is harshly punishing Durant Road Elementary for being more integrated by rating this school as a 3/10. This is an unfair and inaccurate measure of our neighborhood school.

We have loved this school! The principal is wonderful and very involved. The teachers we have had truly love and care about their students. Every year I have been pleasantly surprised by the teacher-student ratio. Our children have loved their time at DRES!

Teachers are very engaged with parents. Our child never received nor witnessed any bullying and our child was the "wrong color" according to that other review. I almost think that review was for a different school. We were very involved with the school when our child was there and it was a great experience for us and our child. I would totally recommend Durant Elementary without hesitation.

This is by far the worst school my children have ever been in! The bullying and racial slurs that my children went through is unbelievable. The principal or teachers did not disciple the children at all! Instead they rather have you transfer your children to another school like they are the problem! The teachers and principle do not care about children that are the "wrong color". I felt like we were on an episode of them. Just ridiculous! If this is your children base school, please found another school to enroll them in especially if you the "wrong color".

It’s absolutely disgusting to see how this school has handled all bullying.

My son has been in Durant Road ES for several months and loves it there. The teachers and the staff seem to love their kob here and pay attention to kids and the parents. The assessments take place every week and each student is challenged at their own pace. It looks like the kids are happy to be there. My son has made great friends and is doing excellent in his studies as well. We feel very lucky to have him in this school.
