We love Emerson! I love the close-knit comminity feel in this smaller school, you really feel like the teachers and administrators know all the kids individually. And some of the teacher have been there for decades, saying about about both the culture and their dedication.

This is truly a “community school”. We have had multi-generations of families come to Emerson. The teachers really care about the students and the support staff is truly amazing. The actual facility has music, art and P.E. as separate buildings/classrooms because Emerson believes in the education of the total child. This is a great place to call home if you are looking for a school in a well established neighborhood and district in the Phoenix area.

Coming from a parent who used to attend Emerson during childhood, it has not disappointed. My children come to this school because they trust their teachers, love the educational experiences, and feel like they can be their very best! We trust the principal, the IEIS, and the teachers because they truly demonstrate the passion they have for our children and the community. In honor of the school’s 100th anniversary, they planted 100 trees/plants across the campus and had several learning activities for the parents and students. I will continue to drive the extra miles to take my kids to Emerson School and see a positive significance in their education, confidence, integrity and the bully-free environment!

My experiences at this school are extremely positive. The teachers go above and beyond for every student. Emerson is a real community.

A school with a true sense of community spirit. Wonderful teachers, administrators and staff that by all accounts seem to truly care about the students. First year at Emerson with one child. Looking forward to staying at Emerson until it’s time for high school. Also the principal, Mr. Lodato, is the hardest working administrator I’ve ever met. He even does it with a warm genuine smile.

We moved to the neighborhood in March of 2021 and enrolled our kids in Emerson, the neighborhood school. The ‘ratings’ made me pause but I love the neighborhood and really wanted my kids in the local school. We are a year in and my kids (3rd/6th) are doing great and I have been very impressed by their teachers. The staff is amazing! Everyone is super engaged, responsive, and really cares about the kids. Mr Lodato (principal) is committed to the community and always looking for ways to offer more to the students. The summer camps (free!) over the summer we’re great too. The school is also well resourced. One of the things I love is that 23 have a dedicated school nurse who is amazing. This has been super helpful, especially during COVID. I have one child with an IEP for speech and another who is gifted and both are well supported in the school.

I have one child that has been attending for three years. The school is like a family. The campus is beautiful with plants, gardens, and murals. They have a registered nurse, social worker, and lots of other services. All kids get free breakfast and lunch. They have free after school care. My 2nd grader only has 18 students in his class. We love this school.

This school has really turned around and have been doing great things. There will always be a cranky parent or two, but my experience has been only positive.

If I could give it minus -100 I would! This is the WORST school! Staff, teachers, students, students parents are the bottom of the barrel type people! Do NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!!

Emerson is a school that is going places. Past years were clearly tough, but with the new administration in place, things have greatly improved. Teachers, administration, parents, and staff are dedicated to supporting children and providing them with a great education.

This school used to be a great educational institution. However, the staff and teacher turnover is so bad here. It is hard for students to feel stability and structure when they do not see the same faces year after year. This school used to have teacher who taught there for decades and now its months. The technology is really below average with Chromebooks that rarely work and software that freezes up on students screens. The shame of it all is that the students are the ones that are suffering as this school has bee focus based (failing) for the past three years and they are very slow getting resources to students who are two or more grade levels behind in math and reading. This is a poor area with a district that has a low budget. Last year, 200 teachers left the district and they are panicking to find teachers now in February as another mass exodus is expected.
