We have lived in the Chap feeder area since 2008, and all three of our sons have attended Chaparral, with one still enrolled there. Our children are academically diverse, and we can share our experiences with AP courses, general education, and mild to moderate special education, all have been exceptional. Our boys have participated in various sports and extracurricular clubs, and they have attended sporting events, musicals, and cheer and dance competitions to support their fellow Chaparral students. Chaparral has been everything we hoped for— a place where they can excel academically with the support of caring staff.Additionally, the school offers opportunities to engage with the community through events like Wish Week and canned food drives. It provides a diverse environment where students learn and grow alongside peers of different abilities and backgrounds. Chaparral is a place where students develop meaningful connections with staff, which contributes to their growth as emerging adults and learners. They are well-prepared for whatever they choose to pursue next. Our sons decided to attend college and have often expressed that they feel well-equipped for their college courses because of the education they received at Chaparral.

My child is thriving at Chap. It’s clear the administration has fostered a culture of inclusion where students and families feel like they are part of a supportive community. Their math department is strong with some of the best teachers in Douglas County. The robotics class was one of my child’s favorite classes. Between math, robotics and coding club this school has inspired a future engineer.

Chaparral High School has been great for my daughter. The teachers, administration, and support staff have been very supportive to her. The care and connection from this staff is amazing. They provide strong academics, extra-curricular, and athletics

A terrible experience with the AP English Language teacher who does nothing but make excuses for not grading ANY work. Do your job or move aside!! Totally unacceptable to give ZERO feedback on writing and leave kids hanging for months. Like the summer essay hasn't been graded....from three months ago! She gives the English department a reputation of incompetence. For God's sake, just retire already! Juniors will not be able to get college recs from this teacher because she DOES NOTHING. Chaparral administration needs to intervene and replace her as soon as possible.

Chaparral has been a friendly place with very hardworking teachers dedicated to getting through course materials. Only constructive feedback would be to reduce the quantity of tests/quizzes in classes, and grade the homework assigned thereby rewarding effort more. This high school weighs tests a lot, so this load will potentially a lot more difficult for students than their college courses will be. It is VERY VERY difficult to get all As at this school in the honors / AP pathway. Chap has great sports, a fantastic theater department, and many extracurricular offerings. Plus, the Chap blue and red crew has the BEST school spirit around! Love the Chap Fam!

My daughter attended Chap starting as a freshman. It was made know to the school that she had a unusual potentially life threatening medical condition. Fast-forward to senior yr and and many frustrating accts with the school not attending to my daughters medical issues appropriately. We finally get to graduation and due to the sheer neglect of the school staff and lack of accomodations for her condition she ended up in the hospital after graduation. So needless to say if your child has any sort of medical issues I DO NOT recommend chap as they WILL NOT attend to the childs needs. Chap is more concerned about the status of their staff. Also I contacted the school to have my concerns addressed so that hopefully in the future no other children would have to go through what my child did. I was dismissed and told they didn't have time for me.

Chaparral High School teachers, admin and staff are absolutely amazing! We have had 1 child graduate from Chap and have 2 there currently and we can't say enough about how awesome this school is! High school is what you make of it and when kids and parents choose to reach out and get to know the teachers, admin and staff at Chap, they find helping, encouraging, challenging and altogether awesome human beings who want to help the students reach their life goals.

I believe most teachers are great and care about their difficult job. I appreciate what teachers do and love it when they give their students confidence to do well in their classroom as well as teach life lessons. That being said, there are some teachers (particularly AP teachers) who don't guide their students on how to do well on the AP exam, but, instead, go through the motions and stress the kids out. I believe such teachers due a disservice to having an AP program at all. I know not all of the AP teachers just go through the motions, but it's frustration when intelligent students are so frustrated that they become mentally ill. Also, this school's inability to figure out how Canvas synch's with Infinite Campus is VERY ANNOYING AND STRESSFUL! It doesn't seem like Admin cares about the mental health of their students, not do some teachers as students have actually spoke to these teachers and they could care less. Please make sure that your kids are handling stress and anxiety properly and don't assume that these teachers will take care of them, though most do!

Overall, I had a good experience at chap. I’m currently in college and I feel that I was pretty prepared coming in. I made life-long friends at the school, and most of the teachers were really great (of course there were a few that sucked but that happens everywhere). Overall, being a student of color, I felt accepted by most of the students and nearly all of the faculty, and I had a lot of fun times there.

This is a school with limited diversity and entitled students. The academic curriculum is lacking and is matched by the vast majority of students that are not focused on academics. This is a “Pom-Pom school” with students being given grades based on their connections. The majority of students move on to Colorado colleges just like their parents and the awful bubble cycle continues. Sooo many snotty parents and their kids are THE SAME. I do not recommend this school for anyone of color or with half a brain.

As an African American going to a predominantly white school, the administration doesn’t do anything for us. It’s sad because admin says that if they hear anyone say the n-word then they’ll suspend them. I haven’t seen that. So if you’re an African American, don’t go to this school, but if you’re caucasian then I highly recommend it. A positive thing I have about this school is that the teachers are amazing.

I have worked at three different area high schools in my career and this school has an amazing culture with both students and staff. It's an amazing sense of family for having 2,000 plus students. Relationships make a big difference in building respect and a successful educational environment.

I went to and graduated from this school a few years ago. The curriculum they teach is benefitial to students from an educational stand point but when it relates to the real world beyond education it lacks importance. The school has difficulties helping the students who have disabilities. These students fall through the cracks and are more times than not bullied by the students who focus more on athletics then excelling academically. A lot of the teachers don't seem to care about this even though it is right in front of their eyes. The saddest truth about this school is some of the teachers are bullies themselves. Being a student with a disability there is nothing more frustrating and overwhelming than having a few teachers make fun of you in front of your peers or behind your back for having a disability and taking a medication with side effects. Some of the teachers will even refuse to work with some students with disabilities, claiming that "your disability isn't severe enough for me to accommodate you" when a 504 plan is on record at the school.

CHS is a great school with a caring staff and fantastic students. The Link Crew and Sources of Strength programs are the best in the state.

I have nothing but good things to say about Chaparral. The family feeling that resonates through the hallways is a rarity only found in certain schools. Chaparral's education is far above other competing schools as well. And besides the classroom Chaparral has outstanding extracurriculars that never failed to amaze me. You would be doing your child wrong from keeping them from such a great school and overall experience.

I failed 3 years in a row here before switching to online school where I'm a straight A student on the honor roll. I had good relationship with all the teachers but the curriculum they have to teach isn't very helpful for the real world. The english department through and through has shown exemplary care and effort, more so than any other part of the school. However, it seems that department has been cut the most. The school has absolutely zero diversity. And when there is diversity that finds its way into the school, the kids don't know how to handle it because they've never been around it. And then they bully. The kids there don't know the difference between $1,000 and $10,000. They don't have parents they have nanny's. Just imagine a crammed school with kids of that upbringing around every corner. I was constantly bullied and made fun of, but it doesn't matter and the administrators don't care unless you're on the football or lacrosse team. I know I'm smart, but I constantly failed. Yet I watched the kids on the sports team who are dumber than a box of rocks pass with flying colors. It's not a good system.

I had two students graduate from Chaparral High. One attended University in Colorado - one out of state. They both excelled beyond their peers, and both credit the education they got at Chaparral as the reason. In particular, the English department was amazing, the teachers very caring & fun. My youngest graduated 5 years ago and she still talks about her teachers with fondness. I was impressed with the principal and his efforts in making each student feel that he knew them by name. Pretty impressive.
