Get away while you can!!!This school is a cesspool of horrible teachers, violence, ridiculous incompetent teachers, a bitter unresponsive principal, and a superintendent that cares more about race than education and fairness. Sending you kid here is child abuse!

Bullying is a huge problem and the principal and vice principal do not take is seriously. I met with them because of an issue with my daughter being bullied and her best friend was jumped twice. My daughter was told that she was next to be jumped. I asked how they can keep my daughter safe and they suggested my daughter change schools.

Not a great school. Education isn’t well and doesn’t take care of kids.

There’s literally nothing good I can say about this school except it’s in a great location.

This school is in a state of perpetual underpermance, except for progress made in the music department. Its feeder primary schools make vast efforts to upgrade music programs; however, underperform in core academics. It prepares students for junior college or CSU at best. Students must endeavor to achieve beyond what the school offers. Schools are supposed to strengthen over time - this one stagnates in mediocrity. A massive change in infrastructure is overdue.

I love the school. I would recommend it to anyone Who is thinking about going into a high school in daily city or Pacifica . I started off at Oceana for half of my first year, I hated it! There School environment was not for me. Students were super clicky, on the other hand at Terra Nova I found new friends quickly and everyone seem to be so nice including teachers.

Covered teacher absences on a few occasions. In my opinion, the obstinate behavior displayed by the student body stems from the campus wide drug problem and an inability on the part of the administration to deal effectively with this problem. I felt no support whatsoever from the staff. Bad set up for anyone who takes the profession seriously.

There are a handful outstanding teachers at this school: the odds of your child accessing one, is not in your favor unless you're in the 'inner circle' and have pull. The rest are either inexperienced or just in need of professional development. Frankly, it's sad. The drug issue is not just rumor, it is a cultural norm that spans decades at this school. All you have to do is wait and watch for PPD to show up every Friday to pick up the confiscated drugs. There are inconsistent consequences for violating the drug and alcohol policy. What does that teach these young adults? This town is one of the few 'small town feel' areas left in San Mateo County. TNHS problems are top-down, begin at JUHSD, and trickles down to the classroom with zero accountability for administrators who are not doing their part. These kids deserve better.

A training ground for new, inexperienced teachers on their way to six figure salaries at schools in Silicon Valley and the South Bay. Great teachers don't last long, enrollment numbers are down, as parents in (wealthier) Brisbane are sending their children to Shasta, the new Charter school, and high achieving students are choosing Westmoor and Oceana over Terra Nova. Low expectations and an old, run-down facility.

6 words that can easily describe Terra Nova High School; Terrible, Horrible, Miserable, Discrimination, Favoritism and Bad (faculty staffs).

Our 3 children have gone to Terra Nova and I have to say that you can get a very good education here. The AP teachers are fabulous. My son's Spanish teacher was dedicated and excellent. Another Spanish teacher was bad, but he is retiring, thank goodness. TN has an impressive array of sports, and there's a sport for everyone, from competitive badminton to water polo to football (which helps pay for the rest of them)! TN also has a competitive Mock Trial team, a consistently award-winning Band, and a Robotics Team which just won First Place in Design, Internationally. Yes, #1 in the world. So, students can choose to party if they want to--there's going to be that choice at any school--or they can get involved with the challenging opportunities that Terra Nova provides. It's really up to them.
