Overall this school has improved drastically from what it had been a few years ago. The principal and vice principal are very kind and keep in touch with the teachers and students, maintaining a healthy environment for everyone. Most of the teachers are kind, well experienced, and make learning feel pretty easy. Although every now and then as a student we'll come across a teacher all of us dislike, they usually are fired relatively quickly or go through training and seem a lot better. Personally I don't see why this school has such bad ratings. It has its flaws, like they aren't completely on top of communicating with parents and the school lunch used to taste gross. But incrementally they are handling these and as soon as people complain the staff is good at fixing whatever the issue is. I understand parents / guardians may be worried sending their students to a school with low ratings, but this school is memorable (in the positive way) and I believe whole heartedly the students that attend will meet good people, feel like they've learned topics well, and enjoy attending school. As a graduating student, I feel like I've grown a lot with the help of my supporting and caring teachers, and I've met people from classes that make me feel like I'm part of an important community.

This school is very bad. This school is very poor, It can not afford most things a school should afford. The teachers also teach very poorly, they do not care about your child, if they do not understand something it's their problem. Most of the more professional teachers have left the school because they did not get paid. The school lunches also are terrible, the students don't even have trays; they get a small cardboard plate with regular milk and the main dish. The administration is also quite stupid, My child has been harassed many times in this school and when reported, the administration took no action and just shrugged it off. {retty much everything about the school is bad, I do not recommend this school to anyone.

This school was just terrible. The teachers were awsome, they helped my through the curriculum, but the environment. Imagine trying to study Algebra, and many kids make the strangest noises possible, for attention. I would compare this school to a free baby sitting service, becuase acedemics is worth zilch there.

Parkside Middle school in San Bruno is a school led by a incapable principal. Mr.Cheever is not willing to know your concerns. He is a perfect fit to a title Principal Non-Response. The academic scores is very low and the school is not focused on future improvement. All in all, it is a school you can put your kids in only if you have no other option in this area. It is better to learn Spanish before entering the school!

Parkside is an OK school -- not great, not horrible. Rumors about the violence and gangstas is overrated. My kids felt safe there, and as a parent volunteer I felt comfortable there. Academics are not a strong suit at this school. Some of the teachers are great and prepare the students well, but most don't hold the kids to high standards and just let them slide. If your child is motivated to do well, however, s/he will do fine there. Principal means well but she makes too many decisions based on emotion and reaction to a situation -- she is not proactive and strategic. I think the school could be a lot better under more dynamic and smart leadership. Just being caring isn't enough. But socially it's a decent school -- and fitting in with friends is so important to middle schoolers.

The teachers and staff really care about helping the students. The new facility is bright and modern. The leadership is intelligent and dedicated to excellence. The diversity is wonderful.
