I am very thankful my child is able to attend this neighborhood school. We have lucked out in the teacher department so far as everyone we have had has been kind and celebrated my child for who they are. This is the second year of Mrs. Parrish and thankful for the changes she has made. I feel there is less of a tolerance of bullying as she takes it seriously and I feel her communication and follow-through has been really strong. The only thing I would change is help with updated buildings for after school care as they are very run down (those are in the City of Pacifica hands though) and also more support for outdoor play. There are currently so many rules in place due to limited staffing on yards that many things children love such as basketball or play structure are taken away due to age. Overall, I love the community feel and how everyone looks out for each other and the children. Thank you Cabrillo staff for all you do!

Collaborative environment with staff that really cares. Teachers are very experienced, lots of art and music, PE, chromebooks for every kid, social emotional learning. Frequent “family day” projects where a child from each grade works together on a project, these “families” stay consistent throughout their time at Cabrillo. My 5th grader has been there since Kindergarten. She is proficient in Google Classroom yet she can also read and write in cursive. We have had years that we like certain teachers more than others but overall she is learning at grade level, her creativity is being fostered with dance, poetry and music classes, and she has a lot of social time with good friends. Fun after school enrichment classes available. Room for improvement: If your kid has an issue with another student or teacher, you/they have to be very persistent because staff tries to blow it off. We have had years with LOTS of homework. Some of the teachers lack growth mindset - have been there for many years and don’t feel they need to change methods. That may be true but some of the old guard seem to be biding their time while waiting to retire. No organized sports available at school. Occasionally after school run club or softball is offered. Despite these negative aspects we are happy with our child’s time at Cabrillo so far. Our kid will be well prepared for High School when she leaves, and will have many good memories with her friends.

Collaborate environment across parents, teachers and students. Both of our children have built strong friendships while absorbing a strong educational foundation. Many opportunities for parents to be involved and communication transparent with administrators.

Great location! Don Potter is a decent teacher. Other than that, complete disaster. They’re going full steam ahead trying to convince your kid that they might not be the gender they were born, and rewarding them with special privileges if they embrace some form of gender confusion. If you or your kid disapproves, the teachers WILL mistreat your kid in some form or another. The principal Annie is nice, but unfortunately spends an awful amount of time and energy accomplishing nothing. Bullying is acceptable behavior and they tend to look the other way. Too much of a chaotic mess for me. Dropping out is a better choice then attending this abusive place.

My wife and I are very happy with this school. My two nephews go there as well and my brother is also very pleased with the school.

It was boring and resulted in very little learning.

This school will not be producing National Merit Scholars! The principal, Tom Stafford, is very disorganized. There isn't one aspect of Cabrillo that remotely hints of a smooth running operation - the teachers aren't that good or they just don't care, low-quality, disorganized homework assignments rife with errors is the norm, students constantly using profanity, the traffic around the school is insanely dangerous, the PTO is beyond annoying, and classes barely touch Common Core Stardards. Overall, this is a very disingenuous and chaotic school.

Adults must keep in mind that when we are behaving inauthentically, no matter what we SAY, the kids know our words are in conflict with what is true. When adults learn communicate with tact and honesty (in lieu of hiding behind disingenuine smiles), I will then attribute more stars. I don't trust the admin or staff. I have a problem seeing seven year olds who have already learned how and when to wear the social mask. It's creepy, insulting and feels just a little pathological.
