I have sent my child to this school and I am well aware that he is having a great time! He has made many friends and is getting smarter everyday! I'm so proud

Our experience has been good, but it’s the school district in general that we are unsatisfied with. On 1/25/21, the BOE voted to remove gating criteria and put secondary students back in school full time. This move puts teachers, students, and families at risk. A move like this tells us that the district as a whole doesn’t value science and if the district doesn’t value it, the schools will not value it either. For being in southern JOCO, there is a surprising lack of diversity here as well. In general, the school is ok, but I don’t feel like our now 6th grader was as prepared for middle school as he could have been. I wouldn’t recommend this district to anyone right now.

We have been very disappointed by our experience at Prairie Creek. It's a nice building, but the education that occurs there is mediocre. The teachers our children had were average, at best. This is not an environment where kids are motivated, and the teaching lacks creativity. Children with behavioral issues are not dealt with and are allowed to disrupt classes, and children who have been bullied are not protected. If you're active in the PTO, your kids will have an easier time, but if not, don't expect them to get to shine. We have also found the communication from the school, principal, and district to be mostly poor. The funny thing is, the district just got some kind of award for its communication, but it is not nearly as good as the communication from the Olathe or Blue Valley (nearby) school districts. I don't know how PCES compares to the other elementary and intermediate schools in the district, but we feel guilty for allowing our kids to attend this school.

Can't say enough great things about this school. The teachers and staff care about the kids and the pricipal is fantastic. I am lucky that my children have the opportunity to go to this school. It is a true gym in south johnson county!
