I pulled my children from this school and do not recommend it unless you couldn’t care less about what they are actually learning. The classrooms are crowded, having too many students per classroom. The teachers and faculty are ONLY concerned about test scores for “End of Year Grades” (EOG’s). If teachers don’t get high test scores at end-of-year…they are not asked back! The PTO was awful, extremely unwelcoming to new families, no interest in new parent involvement…you need to be fake, stuck up, pretentious, and a gossip queen to join. No thank you. Recesses are few and far between, especially if there is even a chance it might sprinkle outside or get below 50 degrees…the teachers are lazy and don’t want to go outside. They huddle in groups and children get bullied. The district closes the schools in Guilford County with a chance of snow or hard rain, missing several days of school during the school year and the students go to school until almost the end of June to make up days. The car rider line is INSANE. You have to park at 7:15 in the line, a 30 minute wait until they start the line moving for K-5. This isn’t bc of Covid…it is normal. They need to allow students to come into the school at different times by gradesK-2, 3-4, then 4-5, and multi grade families last. We have done this at other schools and it was extremely efficient because of teacher involvement. Not sure why these suggestions go unheard. Many parents complain. You have to get into the car rider line at 1:00 and wait an hour until they let out or your child will get in the huge cluster outside of unorganized chaos, unattended and bullied. Fights break out and the teachers say “they didn’t see it”, so there are no consequences for behavior. One of my children was bullied so badly that I had to get outside professional counseling to help. The school counselor was a joke. The Principal and Vice Principal in particular could not have cared less. As long as their test scores were good, they weren’t interested. I would rather homeschool than send my children back there. Terrible.

Far better than ever expected! The only downside is not their choice - they use Common Core. The special activities like the student led conference and the fun run are exceptional and students are thriving.

Our experience is really disappointing. We moved to the area because of this school and our biggest mistake is we only compared the school to others in the county. Big financial mistake on top of this school almost extinguished the love of learning of our child. If you can afford it, go to a private school of your choice so you won’t get your kid left behind. If you can’t afford private, try Greensboro Academy since traditional schools in NC like Oak Ridge and Summerfield are really a joke.

The school doesn’t care about bullying. We had a conference with the principal, teacher and counselor and excuses were given for the bully. My daughter fans I felt they could careless.. come to find out my daughter isn’t the only child to report the student to leadership. Instead of helping, they gave the bully “Citzen of Oak Ridge Elementary” at the end of the school year. All the kids, the bully, harassed knew their complains fell on deaf ears. I’m glad my daughter is no longer at this school!!

This school is amazing along with all of the staff. I do not want my child going anywhere else. The teachers all have the most amazing ability to touch the childrens lives, and they're eager to learn more and more everyday! The teachers have set the course with my child to an amazing schooling for years to come. We are so lucky to have them!

The entire school body goes above and beyond in the task of educating the student body, even though it can be challenging at times they have mastered the art of being true educators at this school. Bravo!!

My daughter is one week away from completing her kindergarten year. We hesitated on whether or not to send her due to her very young age at the beginning of the year. She also had some special issues requiring speech and OT. She was matched with the best teacher for her special needs as well as getting extra help from her therapists. She has truly blossomed and excelled in every way. The teachers and staff of the school treat the kids with love and respect and have a gift of being able to sense how best to deal with unique situations. I am absolutely thrilled with the experience we've had on every level and so very thankful that we live in Oak Ridge where we are blessed with this awesome school. I truly believe that the stage has been set for a successful learning path throughout my daughter's school days because of the quality education she is receiving at ORE.
