Dr. Buon is probably the best administrator in this district. Balmville School is a great school. The school was given special ed classes to save money and the issues come from not having staff to service the kids the district moved in there. Our child went K-5 there. If you know what education is and care about the learning part, this is the school for you. It is not the school for special ed, but this is a special ed problem across the district.

After having children in this school for several years, I am disappointed. I feel like this school is just going through the motions. There is a lack of consistency with staff and policy. Also, there seems to be preferential treatment and classroom placement of students based on who their parents are and what their last name is. If your child is not independent, self confident, and a naturally a good student, this is not the educational environment for them.

Horrible place to get an education. Just stay away if you can. Old building. Gym has holes in the floors. Horrible for kids with special needs

Good communication with parents, such as emails; automated telephone calls; written communication (English & Spanish); PTA Message Board; teachers' classroom newsletters; parent teacher conferences etc. have contributed to a most positive experience.

I love Balmville! We moved here from San Antonio 2 years ago. We felt welcomed from day 1 and everyday since. The teachers are very engaged and caring. My kids made friends here easy and everyone had a hand in helping them adjust. Balmville is the best!
